For about the past year now due to the rising prices I have cut back on metal figures & vehicles by 80% of what I used to buy.
It seems the more I say no to buying a set the easier it gets to say no to buying other new sets. That leads me to this, not a lot of new things coming in I find I,m loosing interest altogether.
Anyone else have similier feelings?

Hi Gary I'm going thought the samething at the moment beside Figarti V weapon stuff there nothing I want and just think in general my money would be used better else where

Actually, I'm going in the other direction. I'm particular about what I chose to spend my money on, fussy, even, but I'm setting my sights on John Jenkin's new Prussians, and his British dragoons, as well as Frontline's Seven Years War line. I've even broken down and started picking up K&C's Rev War Hessians, even with their minor inaccuracies. So, my collecting areas are expanding, but I do "turn every penny", as the Germans say, before spending it.

Prost!

My collecting habits haven't changed, but what I collect hasn't increased in price though.

My collecting is increasing now that I am trying to find old Trophy Zulu sets and figures and it is easy to keep up with my main focus of collecting Little Legion Zulu sets. Also I try to pick up a few K&C and CS AFVs every now and then.

The thing that has changed most for me is that if I can't display it I do not buy it. Although sometimes I find it hard to stick this rule.:)

I am pretty much out of the new market due to prices but continue to buy old land vintage glossies.

Prices got so expensive, I told myself I won't buy on principle or protest, but I'm still buying if something really grabs me. I started buying more scenic stuff, but that tactic doesn't make sense as I'm still spending alot of money. In all honesty, I don't know what I'm doing. I'm even looking at glossies and military books now.

Because of prices, I now buy nothing but JJD WW1 aircraft, Jacobites, and Regal/SoW glossies. Have cut everything else. Used to collect all different eras, WW2, ACW, FIW, Crusades, etc. -- Al

I'm buying much less as well, but I'm not losing interest. The big reduction is in WWII AFVs. Fortunately, I had a lot of them before prices went up and I've stayed away from aircraft, so there aren't many big ticket items I want to buy. My collecting is focused on small vehicles and figure sets from many historical periods that I really like as opposed to just buying much of what was issued. So my interest is still high. I find I am enjoying the fewer and smaller sets I get now than the volume of stuff I used to buy. And the choice and many new ranges by more manufacturers gives me lots of options.

For example, several companies make the fairly plain 95th Rifles. I could buy a few of the Britains which are the cheapest and still have some money to get a few of the very colourful, highly detailed FL Medieval figures where their quality makes a difference to my eyes.

It's not just you. I am in the same boat. Kind of weird because it sort of feels like hitting the proverbial wall. As I mentioned before, I am going to step away from buying till the Gettysburg Show in April/May next year. I have found that once you say no, it gets much easier to say no. Im really only actively collecting two periods- modern and Roman- with modern releases hitting an apex of one every five years, Romans are pretty much on the menu. And,,,,,given that Romans are being produced by everyone and their brother, what's the rush?? Can see myself continuing buying 1 set/month rather than 3-4 sets/ month.

Not only u, everybody in same boat
Me and my son came to conclusion to buy only KC and FL
What helped make decision is space
Not to downgrade other makers but can't have everything
Due to steady prices increase we will have to be choosy
Buy what u like is not the rule anymore, buy what u can afford is.
Quite sure there's many collectors in this bracket.

Things have been slowing down for some time already for a lot of people... No doubt about that... Very obvious!

I have concentrated my current collecting mainly on Britains Rorke's Drift series and some single figures here and there by various manufacturers. I am pretty much winding up my collecting... No more space and has gotten too expensive! {eek3} Enjoying what I have now... :)

I appear to be in the same boat. The less addition of new figures coming in, the lesser the interest. Some of it is zouaves being made by all the manufacturers which I won't collect and some of it is the price of the new sets. Either way it has slowed my collecting down and therefore lessened my interest. Materialistic I know but I can't seem to help it.

I've slowed down . How many figures do I need anyway?Out of room, more than a bit out of steam. Been painting a little just to stay involved, a figure here and there, but spending my time and $$$ doing other things.

Forgot to mention that space has become a huge limiting factor. At this point I am near having to make a decision about what to box up and take off display. I swore I would never have figures in boxes but it does not look like this is going to be true much longer.:( -- Al

I have just begun collecting! So will wait for some time before i have to figure out space issues!

I have found myself getting too picky which is making me lose some interest in the hobby. This compounded with the price increases has made me very hesitant in collecting any line on a large scale.

Just a couple of minor observations.

Gunslinger is just one of about 60 new members to join this Forum in the past six weeks. Another point to look at is number of non members looking at the Forum. Seems to be getting higher. 29 members on line as I write with 153 guests viewing.

Those that have been collecting for while notice the price rises more than collectors who started in say the past year. If you remember when a tank was US$89 or a figure $22-25 then you obviously have a comparison to look back on. If you are a more recent collector who is starting then you are entering the hobby knowing the current prices and are willing to pay them.

Regards

A false premise. Members don't always sign in. Then out of the sixty new members
take out the spammers. I wouldn't rely on the membership statistics of this forum
for anything. Most [99%??]never post at all.
