I keep telling you guys Vietnam was the best K and C early series.
I have the chopper and kick myself everytime I see NJJA's c firebase for not buying those APC's and teh Vietcong.
Such is life

I agree 100% Vietnam, then Arnhem are my two favorite series. I don't know if it was the poses, or painting but the figures really seem to come to live the moment you place them together.

The diorama pieces, and vehicles also really worked to make the pieces fit together in a perfect scene which takes you back to those early playsets some of us were lucky enough to have in our youth.

Its what makes collecting special to me.:)

Unfortunately i haven't read the Frost memories , so i don't know much of the colonel's personality , by the way , i agree with Lancer, maybe Frost didn't want to mention the fact because the hunting horn implies a sort of disregard to his own men, relating them to a pack of dogs...but i'm speculating and like a great director said "When the legend becomes fact..print the legend!".

I read them quite a while ago, and he was quite a character. A professional

soldier I can easily see him having his batman pack his formal wear saying "I

will need to dress for dinner".

He was also a classy guy, and an excellent soldier and brave leader. The

book got a little dry at time as he was not a professional writer but it was still

a pleasant one to read.

I think Anthony Hoppkins was an excellent choice for his character.

I also believe he would have been just the type to use that horn to collect his

troops after the landing, and they would have responded with pride. As an

elete well trained unit. Those airborne troops had guts, imagine the moment you

touch down, carring everything you need to survive, water, food, ammo, squad gear

you are surrounded and alone!

That takes real guts!

Well then, Damien and John, you are going to love the next volume of the K&C book to be published, "Vietnam and Modern Wars". There are shots of all your favorites, and, as it is less than sixty pages, it will be very reasonable, and available in both hardcover and an ever cheaper soft cover version.

Cantinetozzo,if you ever visit newcastle let me know and you can stay with us,you would be most welcome ,and we can arrange for you to see the famous high rise carpark in gateshead, from Get Carter and we can visit mike and tony neville at king and country in spennymoor.Best hurry tho,i think the car park is being scheduled for demolition.Back to the horn ,i have read that Frosts batman Wicks, confirms Frost had used the horn on other operations but does not confirm its use at arnhem, great to discuss this with you and many thanks for the welcome.

Many thanks for the invitation Forlornhoper!I knew of the demolition, unfortunately, i hope to be in England this summer, but at the moment all is uncertain, and could be great to visit the Nevilles too!To Njja , i think Hopkins in the role is wonderful too, and sometime i think what could be the budget to do a film with so many movie stars like "ABTF" today..

Sounds great

Agreed. Really looking forward to this one.

It was 100% completed when Kevin left, and needed only to be proof-read (to ensure that my and Andy's names were spelled correctly) . . .:p:D

(That's an inside joke aimed at Kevin)

I was biting my fingers when typing, as I wanted to make some comment, but thought Kevan might not appreciate it. :)
