Is this right, is this common? (2 Viewers)

What a great deal. I would trade almost anything for Bm-01,02 or 03 at those prices. Got in late and missed those 3 early releases. Congratulations. -- lancer

Well this sounds just like the same for me. I purchased sets BM-03 BM-08 FM-01 FM-02 for $450 from a certain ......... Just kinda thought you are getting those sets from the same someone mk26gmls.

Gentlemen

RELAX - I promise this economy will provide you with more opportunities to buy these early John Jenkins Sets. Give it time and you shall see them appear more and more. People collecting habits change and "boom" there they are on Ebay !

The market always has high and lows and sometimes you can get lucky !

Another thought I would pass on to those who are looking - GO TO TOY SOLDIER SHOWS ! There is always someone selling something interesting at a cut-rate. At one Toy Soldier Show last year - I found 3 sets - yes, 3 sets of John Jenkings BM-02 with missing figures and being sold individually for $25.00 each ! Sometimes lighting does strike and I am sure others have similar stories.

Remember - the HUNT is part of the fun too ! ;)

I wish I had the funds to jump into John Jenkins. I find myself more and more interested in his products everyday. I'm 1/2 way tempted to buy all the woodland Indians but my wife would have my head on a pike if I did :(

I'm surprised QR-01 does not get more attention. An early JJ set (I think only around 130 or so released). Not listed on JJ's website or many other sources. Most new JJ collectors probably aren't even aware of it. We had a discussion or two on this forum about it.

Can you post a picture of it Combat?

Combat,

You're right, they are not on his website and I have never seen them before.

You said they resembled figures from RR03 in the thread you linked on here.

Can you please post a photo of RR03, I can't find them either on JJ's website.

Thank you,

Michael

I use to own half of those old sets I guess I didnt get them all but, I could kick myself good for selling them. I regret getting rid of them.

Andrew,

Thanks for posting the answer on the pics.

Those are nice figures. Older and no longer available I'm sure.

However.....

Do the currently manufactured Frontline Indians match the new JJ's pretty well?

I mean, would the current still available Frontline Indians fit well with a JJ's diorama?

Where else can I view info and pics of JJ's earlier Frontline (your photos) productions?

Thanks,

Michael

Hi Michael,
Whilst the FL indians do fit with the JJ indians (same size, similar looking), in my opinion they are nowhere as good (Sculpting, painting and poses).

Yea, I looked at them Pete, they are nice, but I'm kind of like you, I really like the JJ's,

Michael,

Chalklands comments "Whilst the FL indians do fit with the JJ indians (same size, similar looking), in my opinion they are nowhere as good (Sculpting, painting and poses)." would be right.

On availablity of these figures, they were made in 2006. They are long gone from dealers and only come up rarely on eBay. If you think a BM01 to 03 are hard to find, a full range of the 10 sets of these are even more fun to find. :D

They came in the std Frontline green boxes with the std card ??? of 1000. There were only 150 sets made but the card in the sets will say ??? of 1000.

I do not know the full story behind why they were stopped. I think it was a quality issue with John and Frontline. They were made by Frontline for John. When they came out they were $20 USD per figure. So the single figures set was $20 and the 6 figure sets were $120 and so on.

There is not a lot of other info out there on the Old Frontline JJ sets. John did at one time have a section on his web site, but he has removed that now. Sager's web site has a section on it with the photos and the sets details. Apart from that nothing much else.

There is a RR-01 on eBay at the moment Item 120392982837 3 days to go currently $51 USD. But be careful, this figure has been sold before and returned by the purchaser and the seller is trying to sell it again without noting the minor damage to the back of the head. So be aware.;)

Hope this helps. :)

Andrew

Actually my comments were referring to the currently available FL Indians which I don't think were sculpted by John Jenkins (correct me if I'm wrong). The only JJ FL Indians I posess are set WI-01 Woodland Indians with Camp Fire, RR-04 Woodland Indian and Ranger Combat Set 1 and RR-06 Woodland Indian and Ranger Scalping Set, which I think are rather well done. Not sure if this is reflected in the other early Indian sets though.

Andrew,

You're like an encyclopedia on toy soldiers.

I think you had a pentium chip for memory installed in your brain.:D

Thanks for the info and the clarification.

By the way, I spoke to John Jenkins about any contacts to purchase sets BM 1, 2, 3, 6, 8 and FM 1, 2.

In a lengthy email, this is an excerpt from his reply,

"Finally if you get a spare BM-03.... I need one for my own collection!"

Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrg!!!

I'm sticking with the Battle of Monongahela (need a few), War of 1812 (got them all), Snow Shoes (got them all, except Christmas) and some assorted Chippawa for right now.

No more new lines for me right now.

I've already promised my first born son in case I default on credit card charges to my distributors, lol.:D
