Hi
Does anyone know of anyone doing anything related to Israel - modern, biblical, anything? Be it civilian or military. I've never seen anything but am interested in getting something with this subject matter.
Thanks in advance
Zach

Hi There,

There was a company called Ben Gurion that did a lot of glossy things but I believe they are no longer in business so it would have to be the secondary market(ebay) Otherwise there isn't a lot of things being done with this subject area. WBritians did some sets of figures relating to the desert but they are mainly arabs. Sorry that I cant be more helpful.

Cool info on the Israeli company!
I doubt that any mainstream manufacturer would make anything but an isolated figure, do to high tensions in the area. I would love to see a range, but I doubt there will be one.

Zach,

If you aren't adverse to a bit of assembly and painting there are a few 54mm figures about. New Hope Designs made some figures and Valiant as well.

The New Hopes still appear available from Dutkins-

(Note: I have no connection with Dutkins, just paint New Hopes)

There are plenty of 1/35th options available (Verlinden, Tamiya, Dragon, Academy).

Thanks
I've never painted before - but this may make me start!

There is a Del Prado figure SOL 081 of an IDF infantryman on patrol at a very reasonable price of USD $12.99.

Gentle Friends,

As you can see, I have deleted a number of posts that have included political commentary and inappropriate remarks. The person who initiated this thread asked a legitimate question. Let's keep the discussion on track and refrain from using Treefrog as a political forum.

Warmest personal regards,

Pat

Black dog figures just released a brand new set of two modern Israeli Soldiers with the funky cam cover on the helmet.

sorry- also Frontline has a modern israeli soldier you can find online sometimes.

Del Prado also made a Jordanian Arab Legion figure for Latrun. This figure can be used for 1948 or 1967 wars. This figure and the Israeli figure are excellent value for the money. Frontline made an Israeli Paratrooper that could be used for the wars in Lebanon, the quality is reasonable. They also made an Israeli frogman, however, this figure is rather boring. I have pestered Britain's and JJD to consider a line covering the 1948 war, which being interesting given the extensive use, by all armies, of WWII units and equipment. Alas no one wants to touch this subject, which is odd given that no one has a problem making figures for the Axis (WWII).
Cheers,
Benjamin

In the scale modeling world, too, you'll find modern Israeli armor and figures, as well as aircraft. Dragon is one maker.

That makes me think of the question--Did Blue Box/21st Century Toys include any Israeli pieces, in their catalogs?

Prost!
Brad

thanks for all the responses! Time to go search the internet and do some buying!!!!

I recall seeing a set of Israeli soldiers in 1948 from Mignot wearing khaki shorts with a flag bearer.

I can't recall seeing any Israeli toy soldiers but I did have several model tanks etc made by Solido in 1/50 scale, most were based on French designs but they also had an upgunned Sherman.

Academy's set isn't bad, but the heads were all the same and had a cartoonish quality about them (they reminded me of Popeye). Dragon's para's set is good. And you can also convert or modify other figures depending on the era and conflict. Keep in mind that Israel utilized gear and uniforms from numerous countries early on, including American and British helmets. For instance, the Airfix modern German infantry set has figures with uzis that resemble photos I've seen of soldiers during the Six-Day War. And according to a description in Kurzman's "Genesis 1948", the Special Night Squads were kitted out in a manner that would allow you to use the Airfix Australian infantry (they often wore linen pants, dark blue shirts and Aussie bush hats). Searching IDF or Israeli uniforms online will lead to tons of photos.

I was just bidding on a set of these on Ebay. Just got up over $400 and had to let it go...
