It's starting.. the secondary market (1 Viewer)

To true, when I have departed this life, my hope is that my wife and daughter will share my passion and ....... come on you are having a laugh!

My collection will either end up sold or in a skip! Hence my recent drying up of purchases. I now like to look at TS sites instead of buying; its great reading the comments of collectors; K&C collectors who think they're the best or FL collectors who plainly attack K&C at any opportunity, even blaming them for secondary markets!! Totally laughable but great fun all the same. Keep it up guys, wouldn't swap this for all the lead in my collection.

I want to go out like the Viking Kings of Old put everything in a long ship and set it alight :D oh and don't forget lots of Beer and a nice young maiden to make the journey fun ;)
And guys please don't turn this into a K&C thread .. I don't think a single First Legion collector has made any mention of em .. Thanks Gebhard

I believe that most First Legion collectors, collect FL products because they love the "unmatched" quality and realism of the product...Not for speculators who want try to make a fast buck...Also.... First Legion does not need to play the "retired products game" (as do some manufacturers) in order to create "perceived value" to stimulate sales........that tactic only "fosters speculator behaviour" and in the end has proven to backfire as "secondary markets meltdown" and retail prices rise.....FL sells on its own merit and I wish them continued success.....and.....TS are "not an investment".

I am watching....This will not likely be a "profitable" pattern.... I believe that most attempts by "speculators" to generate profits on FL products in secondary sales will fail.....Given the retail prices and quality of First Legion Products it is highly doubtful that most First Legion Collectors will follow the habits of some K/C "collectors??" in regards to secondary markets....It does not appear that First Legion is at all interested in stimulating sales with a "retired products strategy"...And it does not appear to be a necessary strategy for a company like First Legion in order to have good sales of "High Quality Products"...Also with the current economic climate and the "meltdown" of seconday market sales; TS speculation has become a thing of the past for all manufacturers products

There may not be a strategy by FL to boost sales viz a viz any secondary market unlike the sales tactics employed by K&C However having introduced several ranges of Limited and extremely Limited edition figures and personalities which, once sold out can only be obtained via other friendly collectors or at a premium to the original purchase price.

Unfortunately in my experience very few of the items discontinued thus far have been offerred for sale at this point, which is a fair reflection on those that collect FL and the quality of the finished product.

I have no doubt however that some of the figures that become availiable will become highly sought after. By collectors of course. !! I have seen the value of other Waterloo collectibles increase greatly in value recently, and am of the opinion that type of memoribilia will continue to attract premiums as we move toward the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Waterloo. Whether this event will increase the value of the figures we collect is pure speculation and there are certainly other oppurtunities in the market place that offer a higher prospect of gain, however. I think FL will see increased demand for Napoleonic figures as a result of the anniversarry especially as traditional K&C Naps collectors abandon ship as the scope and quality of the FL offerring becomes apparant to a wider marketplace. :salute:::salute::

Panda,
I noted your point about 200th of Warerloo. Only a few weeks earlier will be the 100th of Gallipoli (25 APR). Australia is planning a number of things to commemorate Gallipoli (not sure if they are co-ordinating with UK) but that 100th ceremony will be huge.

The Australian War Memorial had to get an increase in their budget to fund new displays and events to do with the 100th.

Anybody know if UK planning anything tp commemorate 200th of Waterloo ? I did not notice much for 200th of Trafalgar.
Regards
Brett
