Some time ago Jack remarked that he liked the Nile River Gunboat that resides in Brett's shop, which got me thinking could I come up with something along the same lines? The answer was no, but I may come up with a different type of Gunboat, after some research and many 'PADDLEPOP' sticks, glue and a lot of fun the result I show below. Jack seems happy with it and I knew I would spoil it by trying to paint it so it is his part of the project to get it painted and crewed..

Wayne is not being quite truthful. I was admiring the gunboat in Brett's shop - as I do every week as I try to come up with a reason not to purchase it. Wayne said to me 'You could make that'. I laughed and said 'Wayne, if you think you can make that out of paddle pop sticks, you are quite welcome to gve it a go'. I think my good humoured laughing might have crossed the line into mocking.

To my considerable surprise, he turned up with this beauty a few weeks later! Like the doubting Thomas, I knew very quickly how wrong I had been.

As a proud owner of a couple of Hawiian shirts I will point out that the rather loud number in the background belongs to Fitzgibbon.

Very impressive Wayne well done, now can you whip me up a U-Boat.........................^&grin^&grin

So the question has to be asked Jack, has all your Christmas's come at once!

and regarding the Hawaiian shirt in the background, i don't believe you, it's really yours isn't it???^&grin

Fella's thank you, but there will be no U,E or Z boats for a while, it is to me easy to make things sometimes (but for every success the bin is full of flops) but the true craft is in the painting and weathering, a thing I haven't and don't think I will ever master so I look forward to when the gunboat is finished, again thanks for the kind words.

Hi Wayne,
that is some most impressive work, really well done {bravo}}
Who would have thought what paddle pop sticks could become ^&grin
Excellent!

Wayne,
Not sure if I should be congratulating you on your excellent work here.{sm2}^&grin

However I note an important positive to the design and that is the amount of flat space
for multiple figures and artillery pieces {sm4}.

You are very talented and not only that quick as well. Very well done.

I look forward to the paint job and final touches.

Regards
Brett
PS Now about that Titanic thing we discussed:wink2:.

LOUD?? That shirt is a humble black T-shirt from Waterloo...Belgium not Hawaii...and I had to look hard to find it (in the photo)...it sure aint crushed velvet; that's loud...blue or red {sm2}; Painting? Next weekend? And canons? After all, it is a gunboat...or is that dragoon with the pink facings calling it something else? ^&confuse:redface2::rolleyes2: And for those who havn't seen it, it's quite a boat - look for it finished.
