The photos show the 1/30 Jagdpanthers produced to date HB, K&C, TCS, and JJD. The four examples show the quality evolution of Toy Soldier Jagdpanther models.

The HB Jagdpanther is a beautiful model, but has a major error. The roof is flat not sloped! The HB model has the late curved flame arrester exhausts and is 1/30 scale. The two figures are very good.

The K&C Jagdpanther is 1/30 scale and is the only one of the four that has Zimmerit and is the early G1 iteration. The HB and K&C models have fixed open roof hatches and the rear hatch is fixed closed. The two figures are excellent.

The TCS Jagdpanther is the next step in the evolution of the Toy Soldier Jagdpanther models, as it features opening/closing hatches including the rear hatch and the barrel can be elevated and depressed. The TCS Jagdpanther is 1/28 scale and is too large to be size compatible with 60mm figures i.e. WB and FL. The two figures are excellent.hbjagdpanther.JPGDSCF3007.JPGDSCF3008.JPGDSCF3009.JPGjjdjagdpanther.JPG

The JJD Jagdpanther is the most detailed and accurate 1/30 Jagdpanther model produced to date. The scale is correct as are the camouflage colors. The level of detail sets a new standard; roof hatches, rear hatch and engine hatch all open/close. Interior detail is present which is rarely seen on Toy Soldier armor models. The quality is impeccable. The only area that is disappointing is the lack of any figures with it at the price point.

Good information well researched. For me, I am quite content with the 1/28 TCS Jagdpather, I find the K&C figures in and about it, look size wise, just fine. Actually I prefer TCS slightly larger tanks, makes them a little more imposing. I have 2 of each of JJD, K&C & TCS. Robin.

My JJD Jag arrived today and I'm extremely happy with it. Everything about it is first rate in my opinion, the painting, the weathering, the detail, the historical accuracy, the quality and the price. I thought I would take some comparison pic's with it and my K&C Jag and TCS Jag. The other two are nice vehicles but I like my JJD Jag a lot better. I don't own a HB Jag so cannot make a comparison.

As you can see the JJD Jag is smaller and in my opinion will work perfectly with Britains, Kronprinz and FL figures and vehicles. I also think it will work perfectly with Figarti vehicles both armoured and soft skin.

Great photos Tom; they really show the differences in proportion between the three models. I agree that it will work very well with Figarti Panzers. The K&C model adjusts the height disproportionately to be compatible with 1/28 figures and the JJD is correct for 1/30 figures without the disproportion. TCS made the overall vehicle larger; which maintained the correct proportions. The JJD is the most accurately proportioned IMO. I do not understand why K&C does not have guns that elevate and depress on their Panzerjagers! The K&C Jagdpanthers, Jagdpanzer IV and Jagdtiger all have fixed guns.

JJD took a lesson from FOV in designing their Jagdpanther. The FOV model has all hatches open/close including the rear hatch and engine hatch, with an engine under the hatch. The FOV also has interior detail and the overall proportions are correct; but like K&C the gun is fixed.

Another noteworthy compatibility can be found in the WB WW2 German infantry that have been released over the last couple of years. Ought to make Sammy a happy camper!:D

Maybe it would be better to say there are some similarities between FOV's and JJD's designs, as opposed to saying "JJD took a lesson from FOV...". First off it's utter nonsense to say JJD would take lessons from FOV in any regard. Second, you have to know that statement is going to ruffle some feathers, or is that your intention?

My intension was to point out the evolutionary path of Toy Soldier 1/30 scale Jagdpanzers. The fact that a diecast 1/32 Jagdpanther has the same advanced features as the JJD model is significant in describing that evolution. JJD may or may not have been aware of the advanced features of the FOV model. The Minichamps 1/35 Jagdpanther also has advanced features that Toy Soldier models would do well to emulate i.e. articulated metal tracks and sprung suspensions.

The main point is that all new designs benefit from adopting improvements that have preceded them.

Great JJD Jagdpanther, which is not compatible in size with KnC figures, congratulations! :D

I find it amazing that three different Toy Soldier manufacturers designing and building 1/30 scale Jagdpanther models came up with models in three different sizes. The dimensions of the Jagdpanther are published widely and examples exist in museums in the UK, Germany, Russia and the US. The TCS Jagdpanther is 5mm wider and 12mm longer than the K&C Jagdpanther. The JJD Jagdpanther is the smallest of the three and as has been stated is compatible with WB and FL figures; but not TCS, K&C or TG. The K&C figure displayed next to the TCS and K&C Jagdpanthers in the photos for reference, is 67mm tall from top of base to top of head. The base is 3mm thick.

Yes, it's obvious to most of us that there is a variance in the sizes of (so called) 1/30 scale AFV models, the recent Jagdpanther being no exception. I wouldn't say it was amazing, more like commercial necessity. TCS and K & C, more often than not, try to match the size of their AFV's to their existing and ongoing figures. The fact that their figures are usually 60 mm (1/30 scale) measured from top of base to eye level tends to result in "over sized" 1/30 scale vehicles and tanks to match them. First Legion and WB have been able to provide a more consistent/accurate 1/30 scale in their recent WW2 products as these are relatively new to the hobby. As for TGM, great figures and AFV's and vehicles, but rarely do they match each other, their figures being large in comparison. Honour Bound introduced us to less crap in the tank tracks but often had other "issues". Figarti were well detailed, but usually the paint peeled off and their more delicate parts broke. Of course not every collector either notices or cares about the differences mentioned above, but "Just collect what you like" as they say.

Matt; I concur with your assessment regarding the size variations. I think JJD made a good decision going with a size compatible with WB, Kronprinz and FL figures; given that two models are available for the TCS and K&C larger size figures. Also the price point would set better with the FL collectors, as the quality and size are equivalent to FL, but the cost is less. I would expect a Panther G from JJD in the near future as they are half way there with the Jagdpanther.
