Japanese Navy "Zero" attacking Pearl Harbor (1 Viewer)

What a beautiful setting, the carrier, for your Zeros Robin.

Wonder if Andy will be adding USN aircraft to the inventory. Would think those would sell even faster than the Zeros. Chris
Yes! It is time for the Grumman F4F Wildcat to make an appearance. In fact, a pair of them in the markings of Butch O'Hare and Jimmy Thatch in pre-June 1942 colors would be perfect. Wouldn't say no to a VMF-211 Wildcat, either. :wink2:^&grin^&cool -- Al

Thanks Al. I hope IvanMoe will weigh in. I know Larry Allen likes them. Anyone else?

YOU are correct on that. {sm3}

In fact, ROBIN, you beat me to the punch on the carrier diorama. I have mine maybe 30% - 35% complete ... :rolleyes2: ... building the deck out of coffee stirrers and black thread; while the superstructure is being build out of basswood, wire and sheet plastic.

YES, I am taking pictures and give a "How-To-Build" in a while.

I love the planes and the deck crew and hoping the Andy and K&C will add to this line.

Some extra shots which may help Larry. Mine is a fairly basic ship, look forward to following your construction phase and seeing the end result. Hope like you, to have some more deck crew and planes. Really nice series. Robin.

Found another way to use the deck crew. Robin.

Gee, Robin ... it gets better and better.

There is a very good match between the TG RS series and the K&C Pacific.
Is that a "home grown" patrol boat also?
Very nice indeed.

How long is your carrier? Looks pretty impressive (as all of your "creations" generally are). ^&grin

I decided to make mine in sections and grow the length as the planes AND crew ... and deck equipment (ANDY .. HINT, HINT) become available.
However, I love the detail and the markings of the AKAGI carrier stern section you show in your dio.
Like you, I plan on starting aft an work my way forward as time and "space" permit.
Can you tell me what material the deck is made of? Is it individual pieces forming the planking or cut/grooved into a piece of wood?

Really a top draw job and presentation.

Thank you Larry, yes I keep my local model maker busy, he is thinking of giving up his day job to concentrate on my demands. The steamer boat was so good that I asked to be built, at one stage he was thinking of keeping it for himself.{eek3} The carrier has a thin plywood decking which free sits on the wooden hull. He has hand drawn all the markings on the deck, by pencil. The deck is 50cm wide, slightly wider at one point to accommodate the bridge which is removable. The deck length is 250cm long tapering at the front to 33cm. I printed some flags from the web and wrapped them around the mast tower.Yes TG blend perfectly. Waiting to add that third Zero. Robin.

{eek3} 250 cm ... wow! If my math is correct that is over 8 feet, for all the non-metric folks. I am even more impressed now!
Well, Robin, on weekends you can take it down to the pond, climb on board and have a little sail for your self!!

Your model maker must have some patience to "hand draw" all the lines. Of course I am using 100 billion (or so it seems) wood coffee stirs to actually make a wooden deck and trying to copy the architectural layout of the bridge / superstructure of the AKAGI. I have found a some good (but conflicting) drawings and photos to work off of, but there is a fair degree of "fudging" on the details.

A third plane and a new crew loading bombs, etc would be wonderful. However to fill 250 cm you need to buy a LOT more to fill that space.

Once again a marvelous display!
