The display that impressed me the most this year at Jim Hillestad's Open House event (http://www.the-toy-soldier.com/home.cfm?) was the new diorama for John Jenkins' Leuthen figures. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did:

P.S.: The display was enlarged by the use of mirrors on the two sides and by modeling the battlefield and its buildings independently from John's (impressive) diorama set.

This is really beautiful. The snow really does something for it.

I was at Jim's yesterday, picking up a special piece, before the vultures got it today :wink2:

Great photos, great figures, excellent display, thank you for posting.

Excellent display! Thanks for getting these photos for us Andreas!

What a wonderful dio and photos - and I see there is a set of the yet to be released Austrian ROT-03 Loading and at the Ready in there!!

Many thanks for posting,

Roy.

Thank you for the positive comments. I really enjoyed this diorama.

Jim told me that he hopes that John Jenkins will attend one of the Open House events next year. It is unfortunate that these two annual events are only moderately advertised because I think the atmosphere invites more discussion among the collectors and dealers than the busy shows. The Toy Soldier Museum is located in the Poconos and should be easily accessible without overnight from the Philadelphia and New York areas. Just for your consideration.

I've had the chance to meet John a couple of times at Jim's Open House events. It's a great opportunity to talk with him and John is a wonderful guy. Every time I get a chance to admire my own collection of John's work I feel like the kid who gets the golden ticket in Willie Wonka. It's a great mix of art and history. Whenever I get a new delivery my four year old son and I open up the boxes and place the new figures. It's like X-mas every month.

Hi John - thanks for the info. I have mine on pre-order but I have seen no sign of their arrival in the UK yet.

We seem to be lagging behind the US now by a couple of weeks or so with new releases ( only going by my own experience over the last few months.)

A bit disappointing if this is to be the norm now ......... But Hey! looking forward to receiving them.

Cheers, Roy.

No worries Roy, UKs not lagging behind US - We don't have these sets yet either. All on pre-order. Not expected till late November.

Roy,

well done.... AGAIN....

I have just received my latest Toy Soldier Collector magazine and there on page 32, I see a 3 page article about your recent trip to Poland and your visit to Leuthen.

Its great to see some pictures of the real gate and wall surrounding the church and your wonderful commentary.

Well Done.... and good reading.

John

Yes, a very nice article.
I just read it myself, since I received my TSC magazine yesterday.
Really sounds like you had a great trip there, Old Bill, and I am sure we will see the fruits of it in your Leuthen diorama display.
Another great example of what can go along with this great hobby, like travelling, reading, writing, photography, modelling, and of course meeting people.
Great stuff.
Happy Collecting!

Konrad
