John Jenkins "Meet and Greet" - Saturday, September 25, 2 to 6 pm (1 Viewer)

Thanks for posting the photos. Could it be possible that we could get a better view of those new Jacobite Highlanders? One of them looks new?

Very nice aircraft.

Black Watch also look very good. What is the new series they are from or are they part of a current series ?

Regards
Brett

On July 22, 1758 (just after Ticonderoga) the regimental facings for the Black Watch were changed from "buff" to "blue". So there will be a slight difference between Ticonderoga and later battles like Bushy Run. The one painted figure appears to be from Ticonderoga.

Those highlanders are excellent, thanks for posting. If I was to guess, I would say that they are for Ticonderoga, for one reason, they seem to have a lot of wood around their bases, possibly the abatis. He already did some Quebec highlanders, so maybe not those. Although the wooded bases could be the effect of them in the woods at bushy run? More photos and info from the show are welcome ;)

Lancer...

I think two happy chaps are we. This is a great release and agree and hope its pre-production and the little things are sorted. Its just great that we now have two excellent WWI aircraft.
The buy firsts have just changed again.
Mitch
Mitch, you are very correct. I am over the top with the WW1 aircraft. The purchase of the planes will become my #1 collecting priority, everything else goes to secondary status. With the wide variety of aircraft, wild color schemes, and personalities, the WW1 air war can become an exclusive area for me. There will be much to collect. Perhaps Flynn, Niven, and Rathbone standing beside an RFC Nieuport? The mind boggles.:D -- Al

like the old commericials..."Bo knows"...Blake knows...

Initially uncertain how to deal with the assault, Montcalm’s force withdrew behind the abattis constructed across the isthmus on which the fort lay. Montcalm set his whole force to strengthening the position, overnight building a near impenetrable thicket of branches and thorn. After an initial hesitation, Abercrombie resolved to attack, urged on by Bradstreet. Lieutenant Clarke, the army’s engineer was sent to reconnoitre the French position. Clarke advised that the abattis could be stormed by infantry assault.

Behind the fortified line, now reinforced through the arrival of a force commanded by Levis, stood the French regiments of La Sarre, Languedoc, Berry, Royal Rousillon, La Reine, Bearn and Guienne.

Soon after 9am on 8th July the British and Americans began their frontal assault on the abbatis. No use was made of the strong British artillery. The attack continued throughout the day with additional attempts to pass the fort by boat. In spite of the intrepid efforts of the American provincial and the British regular troops the French held them back until finally Abercrombie drew his men off and the retreat began. The attacking troops suffered heavy casualties.

I think I had posted this on another thread before...I believe 5 more Highlanders are coming out promptly with another 5 more on the sculpt bench...

It would be nice if John painted some of the new Black Watch figures with the Blue facings so they could be used with Quebec or Bushy Run.

It would be an easy conversion to paint the facings blue yourself :)

So - all of these nice photos and such - especially the Ticonderoga figures that everyone is guessing on, I just wonder if anyone spoke with John and asked him? This was a meet and greet after all. So did anyone speak with John and did he let out any info on new stuff besides the items at the show?

Yea...I'm shocked...I have found very little coverage of JJD in the photos and threads...very very little...does anyone else have more pictures...if I had attended...I could have written a book on our discussion with photos attached...

Yes, I would have totally geeked out on him. Picking his brain on sculpting techniques to when is he doing more French Regulars for FIW??? My La Sarre are lonely

Then I find him at the bar and ply him with the drink of his choice to get him to talk.

Mike, if we were there we'd have had all of his secrets. :D

Mike - I have a few photos of John's figures coming up in my last photo update for Playset Magazine... I've spoken to John a couple of times and he's a really nice person.. I didn't ask him anything about what he's coming up with in the future or anything.

Thx

Jim

I got the feeling John can pound down some good Welsh beer...we might have to go with the hard stuff to find all the ranges stuck between his ears...

Jim...if you have anything you can share...even repeats or close-ups...I would appreciate a peek please...

I will have some photos going up over next few days to include closeups of some of the Ticond figures.
But for some food for thought:
-Republican vehicles (like armored cars)
-3 painted versions of the Camel and the Tri wing
-German Hanger tents and French Taxis bringing allied pilots to the planes

Has your interest been peaked.........is this truely the "Golden Age" of toy soldiers??..........YOU BETCHA!!!!, and with John just hitting his stride, the best is yet to come.

Stay tuned

:D that is probably true, and I would have to find a way to fake the amount I was drinking since I'm a light weight - after six shots of whiskey I'd be handing him my credit card telling him to just charge what ever you need.:)

Glad to hear about the blindados (armoured cars). I had presumed that we would see something later in 2011 but it's good to hear him mention that. As I posted in the Blindados thread in the John Jenkins section there are some very unusual armoured cars that could be made.

I hope John gives us a heads up on the three different versions he plans for the tri-plane. I don't think I will buy all three, so it would be useful to know the options before buying one.
