John Jenkins Treasure Hunt 2016 - Chicago Toy Soldier Show (4 Viewers)

The term 'Penquin' is applied to air service members that don't fly. The French also used it in relation to a training aircraft that would not fly, ie. the Bleriot training aircraft with clipped wings. It could taxi up and down the field but didn't have enough wing area to support flight. -- Al

And I have found the Tim Tyler traveling figures on several occasions these past few days! In reality he comes to me in Room #5117 :p
And as I just ended a quick phone call with the man himself (he is having lunch down in the Hotel restaurant at this exact moment!)....

Civilian Sets time! About time......

Firearms were important in American Settlement - American women were competent with their use as well. Hunting and protection were vital to survival.
Additions to the Woodland Indian 'village' sets are always welcome are they not?

Good to see Tim's smiling face. If I miss anything about not being able to attend this year, it's seeing Tim (except yours Julie ^&grin).

Traffic jam of Treasure Hunting madness going on!

Very brief visit in Nick of Crown Military Miniatures room (apparently he is ill! Spreading germs is frowned upon...)

''Nine new French Ecossaie figures will be part of the Chicago treasure Hunt in September. Here are four of the Nine new figures.'' from JJ's August Releases Announcement.

Julie, Did you happen to come across any of these fine fellows in your quest through the maze of dealers rooms?

Second to last Treasure has been found in the Hobby Bunker Room (guarded by the Green Army).

Everyone needs to eat, right? Traveling kitchens were a necessity!

I'm sure NOT disappointed in those figures, I've been asking John for a number of years to complete the set, and he's come up with the goods :) :)

I do like that there is a standing driver, and a seated one, so hope the come separate because you only need one for the ambulance.

Maybe as a follow up in the future we may then get walking wounded, much like his wonderful WW1 French, and some medical staff to tend their wounds?

All good things come to those who wait ?????

Thanks for posting the images, its made my Sunday morning :) :)

John

Great news for the Peninsular War series collectors. I can't wait to add these figures to my collection!

Cheers,

Brendan

Now some French in action and mounted Dragoons to counter the Spanish Guerrillas and Portuguese.

JULIE, thank you so much for letting us witness your journey. For me, this is a highlight of the show reporting - which I would call "light" until now.

I always loved john's sculpts and the faces have tremendously improved over the last years in my onion.

My hunt has ended and I have found my treasure!!!! ^&grin

Wonderful photo. That's what these shows are for: people seeing old friends and making new ones. You don't go for the figures or to find retired items or whatnot but for the people.

So, when is the announcement? :wink2:

the Wagon during the FIW's, I can't see to get it!

Great news on the Tender! When will they be available?
Cheers
Luiz

Next stop is George of Minutemen Toy Soldiers!

His prototype is the Crossley Tender --- hmmmmmm - Why did George get the "Crossley" Tender  He always smiles big when he sees me!
This vehicle will be a great essential vehicle to add to your Allied Airfield!

Lancer should be able to point out the main differences between the modified 1917 version, which did not enter service until the end of the war.....at the same time as the Huck Starter.

Trivia note: There will be no "Penguins" for this vehicle! Now why are those drivers called "Penguins"???

My hunt has ended and I have found my treasure!!!! ^&grin

Congratulations Julie and Zach.
What a great place to pop the question.
