John Jenkins Treasure Hunt 2016 - Chicago Toy Soldier Show (2 Viewers)

Guys and Gals,
What a most enjoyable thread and what a bunch of rogues presented. Brought a tear to my eye seeing some old mates and true rogues in Richard, Tom, Matt, Nick, George and young Tim. Some of America's finest both from the north and the south.^&grin^&grin I hope everyone had a great time. Very sorry I missed it.

Cheers from the Land Downunder, Howard:smile2:

Howard, you are truly missed and it was a Rogue's Gallery Daily! We stayed out of trouble most of the time and even did a little work! In all seriousness, great job Julie, I finally got to read the entire thread, it was an adventure.

My hunt has ended and I have found my treasure!!!! ^&grin

And to answer the other question(s) on this thread, the happy couple are registered at Treefrog (in order to take advantage of Julie's Discount), officiating will be done by Rev Pete with Matt M., Larry W., Joe (HB) and George G. have all agreed to be Zach's best men with Anna C fulfilling the duties of Matron of Honor. Tim Tyler and Pat Wade will be jointly walking Julie down the aisle and the invited guest list is a star studded toy soldier affair to include such international celebrities as Andy N and Matt P who have agreed to do a joint one of a kind commemorative figure of the lovely couple for all those in attendance. Personally, I have agreed to be formally adopted so that they have an instant family (and can skip all of the headaches of childbirth, teen years, college and financial support) on the condition that I inherit Zach's collection as long as I outlive him. Richard will be writing the exclusive article detailing the nuptials which Stuart H. has agreed to publish as an exclusive in an upcoming issue of Toy Soldier and Model Figure. The wedding party photos will not only grace the cover, but will be centerfold. Steven C. will be formally blogging at the wedding in much the same manner he has covered show dinners in the past with active assistance from Brad L.

Finally, Louis B. has agreed to represent either party pro bono in the case any potential future divorce proceedings.

If I have forgotten any of the participants in this affair, I apologize in advance for the oversight!

All the best from Chicago,

TD

These Napoleonic French ambulance drivers look great and will certainly be adding them to my collection.

Here's a painting the Lowenhardt Fokker D.VII:

And Udet's:

The Udet aircraft would have lozenge pattern on both sides of the bottom wing and the bottom of the top wing. In terms of customer appear, can't see how Jenkins could go wrong with either of them.

Hi Mike,
When I first saw these I thought they were rolls of barbed wire! I think bread is the answer though.

Bread it is. If memory serves, one of those circular loaves was the daily ration for a squad. One man would be responsible for it, carrying it strapped to the fieldpack. Apparently, dirt wasn't a huge concern.:rolleyes2: -- Al

Al...you always got the 5 second rule if it falls on the ground...^&grin

Hahaha! just watched a video on Facebook that debunks that rule!

I am sure you use it like I do, as a joke, but thought that was humorous.

Turns out it is a function of surface material, food composition (i.e., how sticky and porous is the food) and what bacteria is on the surface. Essentially, the flatter and less porous the surface (stainless steel) the more likely bacteria is to transfer. The transfer is instantaneous, though. Same goes for food. Watermelon picks up everything, but gummy candy (when cool and dry) picks up very little with its plastic like outside. I assume if it gets warm, and therefore sticky, that changes.

Just nerdy coincidence. Yes, a government grant paid for that research.

Julie, Did you happen to come across any of these fine fellows in your quest through the maze of dealers rooms?

Those ones were not included this year, sorry! There must have been an executive decision (above my pay grade) on the distribution of the figures.

And even though I am not in the photo with my "Little Julie" figure this Julie is so extremely happy to sleep in her very own bed tonight (even though my pups are still with my parents and I won't see them until tomorrow afternoon sometime :().
This figure really epitomizes the fun time had by so many in Schaumburg over the last several days ^&grin
Many adventures were enjoyed that they cannot all be documented.

The STOMP Dance is an example of a dance performed by various Eastern Woodland tribes and Native American communities. The term "Stomp Dance" is an English term, which refers to the "shuffle and stomp" movements of the dance.

There will be several new Woodland Indian “village” sets available throughout next year.
George’s “sidekick” “Larry Allen”, will be happy to know that there are more Woodland Indian village sets, coming in 2017. Yet another reason Larry is not allowed to go into the light again!!

I do hope you all have enjoyed this year's adventure of the John Jenkins 2016 Treasure Hunt!
The amount of people participating this year made it incredibly fun :)
Thank you to all who participated and glad you were able to join in the fun times with us all!!

Thanks for the reply. Hoping they would show up at Chicago as mentioned by JJD back in August. Battle of Culloden collectors are in need of a fix.:rolleyes2:

Next stop is George of Minutemen Toy Soldiers!

His prototype is the Crossley Tender --- hmmmmmm - Why did George get the "Crossley" Tender  He always smiles big when he sees me!

I smile big when I see you, that is for sure, same with 99.99999% of the people; the .000001% guy must be the one who refers to me as the grouch..........

Maybe he's the guy during the room trading who asked if the watch I had on comes with the vehicle and he was less than thrilled with my East Coast sarcastic reply........:rolleyes2:..............but hey, it's better than me promoting my company on a forum, we wouldn't want that................{sm2}

I won Tim Tyler's - the two frontier women. I think they are great!

C'est du pain pour les poilus ! (bread for the "poilus" nickname of the French WW1 soldiers) :wink2:

John sends his many Thanks to everyone who took part in this year's Treasure Hunt!
I had fun (evidence in this thread ) and hope everyone else did too!

Since we did have a few less Dealers this year the French Ecossaie figures for the Jacobite Rebellion series were not part of the hunt. These figures will be available early next year as well! Even more to look forward to in addition to the other 7 sets we all had.

AND once all Dealers have drawn their winners that will be listed in this thread as well.
Zach just won a Dealer who was on the ball a bit more than the rest of us -- I have found all my slips and will draw a winner on Monday for the Treefrog Conestoga wagon.

"Little Julie" was not up for winning and she may need to continue her adventures at other upcoming Shows!

Happy Friday everyone!!!
Julie
