John Jenkins Treasure Hunt 2018 at the Chicago Toy Soldier Show! (1 Viewer)

Good lord, John is remarkable. These are simply the most unbelievable models I have seen for this scale and time period.^&cool^&cool^&cool -- Al

The man is a machine, he must work 24 hours a day.
The Punic Wars are a fascinating period with Romans arrayed against a diverse and colorful army of Spaniards, Africans, Celts and Phoenician/Carthaginians. Elephants, cavalries and sea vessels will make
this a dynamic and expansive series.

wow!
unreal...
this is massive...
the box is huge...
I hope you will give us some tight closeups if you have time...
John is killing it here....

this is a picture of 2 different boats...one Roman one Carthaginian...correct?

Yes, Mike they are two separate ships.

Yes Mike this might be the first range I've collected in a long time.I love the mountain men era so I will be watching for this one.

sooner or later I will attend the big meeting in Chicago and I will be happy to participate in JJD's Treasure Hunt. For now I assume to be in the game thousands of miles from Chicago. This is my card. Just for fun!!

and you got all the winners!
I'm gonna send you a bag of rocks...^&grin...Mike Miller Design....
you would love the show...
it is HUGE!

In person they are amazing. I have always wanted that conte Roman ship and after seeing theses I have no need for it
I tried to do the math on it for a price and I think it will have to be north of 2000 with figures based on cost of landing barge and planes. And I think it's going to be a bargain at that price.

I will say my first thought was if John can ship this he can surely ship a Gotha. :)

As far as innovative outstanding new products John has to be # 1 in the hobby right now.

on the Roman ship...

this rotating 11-metre long platform...
which could be lowered onto an enemy vessel...
to allow a heavy infantry unit to board them...

does anybody know how this was stored on the ship...

was it upright?
did it lay on the deck...

how do you set it up if you're not boarding a ship?

sorry...

should have looked on line before I asked...

you can find anything on the Internet...^&grin

that's cool...

that spike on the bottom end of the ramp must work like a nail in the Carthaginian deck...

how ingenious!

Nicely researched information Mike. Those ships look magnificent and with the figures, will be the pride display of many collections. Regards Greg.

Pretty awesome way to kick off the Punic Wars. - Not sure if I'll be able to swing those ships, but definitely in for the figures.

I wonder if John would consider 2 half ships but to scale? I would prefer that. Finally, the Republican Roman time period is getting some respect! :)

Those ships are show stoppers. Literally - show over. I wonder what the dimensions are for display? The size does open up an interesting possibility - WWI bomber time! It can't be any bigger than one of these ships. Bring on the Gotha.

Yes bring on the Gotha.
I have to tell everyone the impression these made on me was so much, that after my Friday run thru of the rooms at the show, I was checking thing off of my list and adding things to grab on Sunday based on Friday purchases. As I was thinking of what I wanted, the thought kept running thru my mind that, I'd rather save that money for the two Jenkins ships. These thing are likely a year away and I'm already planning on the purchase.

The second thought was to start telling my wife how much our current coffee table does not work with our decor.

A Gotha IV bomber in 1/30 scale would have a wingspan of 31" and a fuselage length of 16". That's a lot of thin struts and 2 big, relatively thin wings to protect as opposed to the rather beefy looking ships. Still, I wish John would take a shot at one.:wink2: -- Al

That can only mean one thing - some of my wife's things will have to go!
