John Jenkins Treasure Hunt 2018 at the Chicago Toy Soldier Show! (2 Viewers)

That can only mean one thing - some of my wife's things will have to go!
Yeah, have to agree. After all, who really needs that big, formal dining room table with all those cut glass centerpieces, especially when appropriate sized aerodromes are in such short supply? :wink2: -- Al

I know John has already kinda put out there why a Gotha sized plane won't work for him.
And yes it would be too big in all likelihood for my own toy room. So it is in more of joking fashion that I ask.
That being said I want one.^&grin

Back to the ships. the coffee table they are on was not real big. I don't think it would take as much room as you would imagine.

There are so many really exciting "treasures" this year. Thanks to everyone for supplying the pics.
I am looking forward to seeing that Whiskey, Scalps and Beaver Pelts range.

Walt

I agree that the mountain man and two Indian girls make an excellent start to the “whiskey, scalps and beaver pelts”. This allows a great north west display to be started. How the Canadian west was opened more in harmony than massive violent battles.

These type of displays are easier to convince your better half to have on display.

Don:smile2:

I'm definitely in on Whiskey, Scalps and Beaver Pelts range...

on the 2 ships...

I have to see what the cost on them is...

the add a new room to my house...^&grin

For the first time in a while I think I'll be collecting large scale figures as Whiskey,Scalps and Beaver Pelts really grabs my interest. I've always had a great interest in this period. These men had amazing courage (most didn't go out on expedition a second time). They aren't somebody you would want your daughter to bring home but you have to admire them
Mark.

All of a sudden I'm getting visions of Lee Marvin and Charles Bronson in 'Death Hunt' along with the 'Mad Trapper' and a Bristol F2B with ski for landing gear... -- Al

a gotha iv bomber in 1/30 scale would have a wingspan of 31" and a fuselage length of 16". That's a lot of thin struts and 2 big, relatively thin wings to protect as opposed to the rather beefy looking ships. Still, i wish john would take a shot at one.:wink2: -- al

i would pay up for a gotha bomber, bring it on in a good color scheme

I once saw Charles Bronson walking across a parking lot at some golf/tennis store in LA. He looked exactly like Charles Bronson from the movies. Some celebrities you see out of context you can't place, but Bronson was Bronson.

sooner or later I will attend the big meeting in Chicago and I will be happy to participate in JJD's Treasure Hunt. For now I assume to be in the game thousands of miles from Chicago. This is my card. Just for fun!!
Ciao

LOVE THIS! The goal so you can all take part even if you do not attend the Show
Still on the organize and unpack phase but will post some more photos as soon as I can!

Any word yet on who the JJD 2018 Treasure Hunt winners are?

:smile2: Mike

Waiting on a few more to chime in with their winners yet!
