July Dispatches Are In (1 Viewer)

I told my son today that Andy had finally decided to make some more FJs. I say finally because in July 2005, I had sent him a pm saying that my son, among other ideas, had suggested more FJs. Andy's response was no at the time. So, now he wants credit for suggesting it to Andy way back when ;)

Credit to Jazz Jnr!!!:D

Looking forward to getting these and eagerly wait to see what FJs are coming in 2008.

I'm a bit surprised at the lack of response to the new SL Heydrich. On the plus side, the numbers produced are down and it is a piece of historical interest. On the downside, KC cars have left me cold for some reason. Much prefer the armored vehicles particularly for the higher priced SLs. I will pass on the rest of the august releases with the possible exception of the Stug. Many repetitive poses here. The FJ's are a bit of a disappointment for that reason. Too much around to buy similar sculpted figures over and over.

Personally i don't think K&C have done that many action poses, so to me the FJ's from Crete are a dream come true.

The SL Heydrich does kind of leave me cold though too.

I think it has limited appeal and won't do that well, except with the LAH crowd. I wouldn't have that scum in my collection, alive or dead. On a more practical matter, what can you use it with? Nothing, whereas the other SLs can go with something else.

This is something I have no interest at all in.

And as you said James one Heydrich equals two FJ sets!

I realy like the look of the new fj,s ,I dont have the originals
so its a great chance to get some paras without chasing them
on e bay etc.
I think they have done the right thing bye reducing
the numbers on the new SL set ,but it doesnt hold any interest
for me personally.

Again,

I very much look forward to getting this new SL set. I don't collect LAH due to the celebration of the Nazi mystique. Yes, it's history and I'm okay with others collecting them.

The main attraction fot his set is that evil (especially Heydrich) is getting what it deserves.

Oh yeah, the car is coool tooo.

Does anyone know the year, make and model of the auto?
might make a nice piece for a different diorama.

Contrary to the impression that the SL gives, Heydrich was mortally, not fatally wounded, by the bomb thrown by Kubis, which exploded against the rear wheel well of the car, which from photos is not at all the color that the SL portrays it as. In addition, the SL does not seem to show the actual damage to the car as shown below. Heydrich managed to get out of the car, draw his pistol and shoot back at the assassins before collapsing in the street.

Heydrich held on for several days, but died on June 4 from blood poisoning brought on by fragments of auto upholstery, steel, and his own uniform that had lodged in his spleen.

I'm with you Carlos. I'm buying this set. I would buy a Hitler set if it had him on a couch with a dead Eva Braun, a dead German shepherd and a pistol in his mouth. This is a great vignette of Heydrich being made into a good Nazi.

Not sure what year, but it is a MB 320.. and black. I say "is" because the car still exists today in The Chech Army Museum in Prague. I recall reading that MB had verified the chassis number to be Heydrich's staff car.

I was going to get the Heydrich assasination set, but doubt I'll bother now I know the car's color and damage is wrong. It's not as if this information is hard to find on the internet these days, just plain slack research imo :(

For the record the vehicle (a Mercedes Benz staff car Cabriolet B type 142 IV, of 1938, aka Mercedes Benz 320 B cabriolet 1938) was repaired after his death and the "damage" to the vehicle in the museum is of course not original but is meant to represent the vehicle shortly after the event. Most references say the car was originally black, but some say dark green.

I like the set and will probably get it, personally I think the scene could have been done different. I would have preferred just after the event (with Heydrich lying on the ground and the car damaged) or just before the bomb was thrown with Heydrich pistol drawn and the bomb still in the bombers hand, because NOW every time I explain the model to somebody I have to tell them to imagine there is an imaginary bomb going off or do we get the little explosion superimposed on the screen from the K&C website?! If the car is the wrong colour it will not put me off the set - I buy models because I like the look of them, not for them to be 100% historically accurate down to the last nut and bolt. I do wonder that if we went back to the old days where there was less production and choice whether we would have all rushed out and bought this set? Now if we do not like anything we just sit back and wait for the next months dispatches, it's a double edged sword this doubling of production.
As for the paras I will get them all as have been waiting ages for them, but as Oz said there are a few repetitive poses and I thought it was just me that got tired of seeing at least one figure in each set either with a map, holding binoculars or pointing! Still great sets and a welcome change from the SS, we should encourage Andy on these sets or he might not do them again and that would be a tragedy.

Maybe there's an opening for some adjustments to the Heydrich set by those members that modify/repaint K & C models ;)

I'm kind of split on this set.I like the subject matter, the death of this human filth is something to be celebrated, but it definetly is a stand alone set and i don't know how it would fit with my other stuff. So i am unsure at the moement, the price may well help me decide. With the FJ's and Brit paras flying over the horizon funds are also limited, but at the same time i hate passing on a SL.

Imo US $159 seems a bit steep for something that inaccurate. But then there are a number of collectors buying that K & C aircraft that never existed ;)

I'm staying out of that one mate!;)

It would be a real snafu if KC got both the Heydrich car model and color wrong. Not expert enough to judge but here are some color photos of the real one:

From the pic it looks like the door on the passenger side is open, I would bet it is cast in th open position which is a negative in my view for use in another scenes. I would agree, incorrect color is an issue.

PS. I noticed the other Para pics are posted at the K&C website.
