Hi Guys,

Almost a year ago a leading K&C collector in Asia contacted us about designing and producing a much larger, expanded version of a ‘Normandy’ diorama that, my late brother Gordon had built many years ago.

That original display piece had in turn been inspired by a classic AIRFIX D.DAY GUN EMPLACEMENT set.

Our collector really liked Gordon’s display which basically adapted many of the AIRFIX details but enlarged everything to K&C, 1:30 scale.

In addition, the client requested a large enough separate beach section that could accommodate a number of our landing craft, some vehicles and, of course, a large number of infantry.

After submitting our design to the client which was to measure 6’ x 4’... the collector asked us to extend the beach section by an extra foot in length.

Now, the final diorama measures 7’ x 4’ and comprised 2 sections: the Beach Road and German Defence Works (4’ x 3’) and the Sea Wall, Main Beach and Sea Water which now includes 4 x K&C Landing Craft (4’ x 4’).

To produce this amazing model K&C once more turned to our good friend David Marshall in the UK to execute our 2 x dimension plans and design into 3 x dimensional reality. David worked on the project for almost 6 months before shipping it out to us in Hong Kong.

Unfortunately for me it arrived the day after I left for the U.S.A. and our KING & COUNTRY TEXAS opening. My original 3 week trip to San Antonio eventually took almost 10 weeks due to all kinds of trials, tribulations and quarantine restrictions.

However, yesterday the diorama was delivered from our warehouse here in HK to our Head Office studio for ‘set dressing’ and principal photography.

Here are a couple of views of the finished diorama which I’ve ‘christenedJune 6 1944... I hope you like it... Placing all the many figures and vehicles on the display was great fun! Dodging the incoming shellfire was a bit more tricky...

All the very best and, as ever, happy collecting!
Andy

Words cannot do this masterpiece justice. Gordon would have been thrilled with this and up to his museum quality work. The placement of German vehicles suggests they were totally caught off guard with the landings. Six months in the making makes this a enormous project, but what a cool finish and worth every effort. This will be difficult for you to give up Andy. Maybe you can take in turns for custody 😀. Robin.

Thankyou Robin for your appreciative words…We will be parting with this great piece of work next week after we finish our photography.
Then, it’s back to the warehouse for repacking and shipping out to the collector who has been incredibly patient while I was stuck elsewhere.
Anyway thanks again and have a great weekend!
All the best,
Andy.

The work of a master Andy, I now know why order with David will take a while.....:wink2::salute::

Absolutely epic ! :salute:: {bravo}}{bravo}}{bravo}}{bravo}}{bravo}}

Looks outstanding and a masterpiece, also it means there is an understanding wife/partner out there. To allow this for a collector, if not, imagine trying to sneak that into the house a bit at a time..........

Not just a diorama, but a work of srt.

4 simple words : "WHAT A WONDERFUL DIORAMA !!!!!!!!!!" TOP NOTCH
Guy:)

One of the best I've ever seen, Andy!:salute:: Just spectacular!^&cool^&cool^&cool^&cool^&cool

Absolutely spectacular, a true work of art and truthfully, this belongs in a museum, the collector is going to be over the moon once this arrives.

Gordon, David and Jakob are the three most talented artists/diorama builders I've seen in this hobby, to have David doing commissions for you for your is a nice partnership, his work is spectacular.

Not sure how you can part with it yourself after unpacking it and viewing it.......maybe he can make another one for you Andy.....................:wink2:

Simply spectacular, Andy! What an amazing diorama that captures the intensity of the D-Day invasion 😎

Brilliant Andy. I would love to see some closeups of the explosions.

That's awesome Andy! Yes, a masterpiece and on such a large scale of 7'x4' really puts everything in a large perspective.

Absolutely spectacular diorama! I would love to see some closer detailed shots of the action.

That diorama is absolutely fantastic! well done Andy and David Marshall !

no wonder David put back my latest diorama - he was still working on this monster for 6 months!!!

Cheers,

Stefan

David's work is unbelievable. He made my North end of Arnhem Bridge model. The detail is superb and he followed my design to the letter. He also made me some fresh graves with crosses and rifles to mark.

Stunning! Once again the K&C team knocked it out of the park. This looks like a still from the opening of "Saving Private Ryan."

Brendan

Thankyou once more Guys for all your appreciative words and enthusiastic responses to ‘June 6 1944’… tomorrow I hope to post more images and some close-up detailed images of this spectacular diorama.

Later in the week I will substitute our American ‘cousins’ with a British landing force and will photograph that too and forward all pics to the Forum when complete.

In the meantime, all the best and happy collecting!
Andy.
