Hi all,

Clive and Sue had some super JJD Previews at their Grey Goose Stand today.

I had a great (rather swift!) visit. Whilst there I picked up the new WOR sets along with the latest two A7V German Tank crew sets - well pleased.
Finally................. Painted Knights! They truly are everything I'd hoped for, you really do have to see them "in the flesh".

I'll post pics of the WOR first, then put on the others as I can (painted Royal Marines, Lacrosse Indian figure resins, LOZENGE ALBATROSS!! etc.

Cheers, Roy

Lozenge Cammo ............... !!
Thanks for posting these shots of the new JJD Albatros D-III. It is another beauty and a real important piece because John has solved the lozenge camo enigma for the material he makes his aircraft out of. This opens up all sorts of future possibilities for aircraft that couldn't be done without the lozenge camo. This is an OAW Albatros D-III, flown by Ltn. Franz Ray of Jasta 49 in 1918. Ray became CO of Jasta 49 on December 15, 1917, after stints with Jastas 1 and 28. He remained CO for the rest of the war. He scored 17 victories which included Spads, Camels, RE-8's, SE-5's, and a lone Dolphin. Looks like another 'must have'. :wink2:^&cool -- Al

Thank you very much for your posting OB . . . . . . The lozenge camo Albatros will be a must have for me. The new WOR knights are fantastic looking, so much so I am almost tempted to collect them. If that should happen you might be listed as a co-defendant in my divorce proceedings :wink2:
:smile2: Mike

Studying the excellent photos by Roy, the fantastic detail on the JJD P-26 and the Ray Albatros is really impressive. Not only has John reproduced the 5-color lozenge camo fabric to a very accurate degree but he has even reproduced the rib tapes on the wings that show as lighter colored stripes. It is a detail not often reproduced in WW1 aircraft models. I am also very impressed with the P-26, it's slightly grubby look, and I see that the bracing wires appear to be real wire of some sort, as one can see the spiral appearance the wires have. Both the P-26 and the Ray Albatros are on my 'buy' list, as are the beautiful WoR knights. Fantastic stuff from JJD, as always. -- Al

First, thank you so much, Roy, for your awesome pics! I know that you do this out of love for the models and figure sets, but you do us all a great service in the process.:salute::

Awesome looking model, the P-26:

Need to point out that a cable appears to have come loose. It should pass over and be held in place atop the antenna-mast as below:

BTW, the order form for this one indicates that it's "2 pieces." I don't know for sure, but the second piece may be the pilot figure. If wishing to quote me on that, please note it as being conjecture on my part.;)

The model has some nice detail on it. I'd point out Jenkins' use of cable-spacers and how well that they appear to be rendered and incorporated into the model. Also, there appears to be a hinged access panel for the pilot's compartment. Nice touch, there, although the hinges may be a tad over-scaled. Working hinges are awfully hard to do, even in 1/30, so I'm going to give JJD a pass on that one!:)

Thank you so much for your kind words Moe - you are all very welcome. I get an awful lot out of this site and it's nice to give a little something back now and again.

Moe, I have to say that I am so impressed with John's body of work in both figures and aircraft over all these years, that I would be inclined to give him a pass if he came up with a Pink polka-dot Fokker tripe that had 4 wings and MG turrets. He's just that good. ^&cool -- Al

And the last WOR

This mounted knight is outstanding !
Along with your photography !

If this is a representation of the new additions to the series, my pocket book will suffer.

Thank you so very much for posting these pictures, and congratulations on your purchases.

WOR Knights are spectacular! I believe many more will be forthcoming....
Also love the Native American LaCrosse players, my five year old grandson who plays the game will want them for his room.

John continues to amaze collectors with his artistry and attention to detail....and his diversity of time periods and subjects.

Was at the Show and Grey Goose stand was the most impressive there, really excellent sets, anyone know when the Royal Marines are and the cost?

Thank you Ivanhoe. Your "Good luck" yesterday certainly worked for me!

Happy Days!
