June LTSS Today - Bumper crop of new JJD at the Grey Goose Collectables stand! (1 Viewer)

Very excited about the new JJD "Celts" and WOR mounted knights and artillery.

John's new Celts are more typical of the Gallic tribes that fought Caesar but weapons
and armament did not change drastically into the first century AD.

JJD's "Enemies of Rome" are produced in cooperation with K&C's Romans and that
Legio XX Valeria Vixtrix release participated in the Claudian invasion of Britain.
Typically "British Celts" would have woad tattoos, hair spiked with lime and clay and
stripped to the waist in battle. I believe that JJD will produce the more typical British
Celt in the future but in the mean time these warriors will have to do!

Comparing K&C Romans with TGM and FL I found them more compatible with TG but
not bad with FL either.

Or maybe K&C should do some Roman Republic legionaries in fighting poses to go with this great new offering of Gauls from JJD. :wink2:

Hoping the release info when the tank comes out will say something about JJD's future plans in regards to various versions, crew, support troops, etc.
Was not planning on collecting WWII again, but this might be a game changer.

John has announced he will be doing a crew for the Jagdpather. The tank is touted to be released in July, but expect the figures to follow soon afterwards. Robin.

Andy has stated he has fighting Romans coming but they will be in same Legion as those already released

I agree with your assessment. I do like these Gauls, and would expect a few of these within the Briton ranks. Just not this many. I would like a little more variety rather than all of them have such a similar mustachio-ed appearance.

Fighting Romans will be good to have, but those now being produced by K&C are of a later time period than the upcoming Celtic Gauls from JJD.
They just don't match up historically......... About the same as putting a WWII tank on a WWI battlefield.

I did not know that, but still these were to be the enemy of my K&C Romans, so I will have to use artistic licence and still collect some of these to pit against my Romans, historic or not. Robin.

Going back to earlier posts re- the JJD/K&C collaboration - The series is called "The Armies and Enemies of Rome". I now have to agree with Dragoons original stance :salute:: that John will produce a Roman opposition.

Seeing the Celts poses - four very specific amongst them - two kicking and the"Duo" (made as Chalklands pointed out, to attack a shield wall?) From what I read on here there would seem to be no K&C opposition for the foreseeable future. If this a collaboration I would have thought K&C would have announced the Roman opponents - (maybe they will in July?)

"The Armies and Enemies of Rome" it's what it says really isn't - although it does seem to be quite an ambiguous statement. My money is on John doing the Roman Shield wall for the Celts to attack.

Would be nice wouldn't it :)

Note the WOR gun crew includes an ammunition box not shown in these photos. A really nice set John. Robin.

Clive and Sue had a bumper crop of JJD product on show to see out the last LTSS in style at the London Design Centre today -

Absolutely over the moon (personally) to see the resins of the WOR gun & Crew, just........FANTASTIC!!

The painted Jagdpanther is (really....) stunning, even a spare gun barrel! (This is what I guess most people are waiting for, should be a huge seller.)

The DH2 is again........ stunning - really does look like canvas on the fuselage.

As for the Celts/Gauls - superb isn't the word............. I'm in love

Also spotted a visitor to the stand from "down under"............. I'm sure I've seen him somewhere before :)

I came away well happy with my May and June WOR orders!

Will post further pics as and when I can:

John

I believe John will produce some British Celts in the near future and possibly some earlier period Romans to go wit the Gauls.

Randy,

No, not claiming them, just having a rest .....I loved the show, spent 5 hours there, including lunch at the pub, and managed to find quite a few bargains in the boxes of figures for sale. There were a lot of older kits and painted figures from the past 30 years, so I will have some fun stipping off the paint and repainting them to bring them back to their former glory.

We have just arrived back home in OZ after a 7 week holiday to Europe, so I hope to posts a few more 'travel reports' related to zinnfiguren and military museums in Germany together with imagery, but now its time to adjust back to life 'down under in mid-winter (slightly warmer than London in June !!!!! :) :))

John
