Hi Guys,

Now, I don’t know if it did happen but I’m pretty sure it should have happened... Before heading into the ‘boonies’ for the first time in South Vietnam most troops would have had the opportunity to go ‘on exercise’ to practice their bushcraft and basic infantry skills in a real jungle setting without drawing the undue attention of all those pesky little guys and gals in the trendy black pajamas!

So, here we see part of an Australian infantry unit navigating a jungle river and moving tactically through the bush.
Hope you like it...

The actual dio measures just 12”x 15”... It’s amazing what you can pack into a relatively small area.
This was a joint effort by brother Gordon and yours truly.

All the best and happy collecting!
Andy

Nice dio and I'm guessing those diggers won't be coming out of that stream (literally) anytime soon!

Wading thru the river really captures the imagination, not seen often in diorama's. Great scene. Robin.

Andy mate,
Great little Dio cobber. Good to see all the new and old Aussie releases together. ALL Aussie soldiers posted to South Vietnam had to do a two week jungle course at Canungra Jungle Training Centre, Queensland. Blood Hell. Worse than the 13 weeks Recruit Camp. They even had the nerve to send the Armour Corp there as well. ^&grin^&grin Not my favourite place in the beautiful Land of OZ.

Cheers Howard

Excellent jungle warfare display-----one of the best I have seen here on the forum.

The Australian infantry patrol figures wading in the swamp makes for a great display.

The jungle hats are quite typical for troops operating in the jungle.

Raymond. :salute::

Love the jungle scene here, looks great. Well done to you both !

Bloody Brilliant .

When you were down in Melbourne . I had asked if you would do some half figures so we could have the patrol wading through a creek .

The issue with the full figure it will be inbeded in the resin for the life of the diorama and never to be returned . And as it is a full figure the depth of the diorama need to to be deep enough to show that it is a creek or river . this acheived by pouring layers of resin .

By using the half figures the depth can be simulated by making a dark base or making the colour opaque . So some half figures like your tank crews would be fantatsic . You could even release the existing patrol with out legs . so the modelling is already done . just a matter of recasting the bodies .

That is my two bobs worth and sorry for the rant but a great piece.
:)
