Just added the 88mm gun from Collectors Showcase yesterday, its incredible: the detail, the fit of the gunner on the seat. I bought the Mark I tank first, that is an incredible piece. I looked over the 88 and I gotta say I think its perfect, everything is present from the “ follow the pointer “ aiming rigs to the base tool box. That had me start looking at the tank, I checked out my DAK reference book and found the tank pretty perfect too. I think these guys are using blueprints and the computer somehow cause the accuracy is weird correct. Anyone else got a comment?

Also anyone got the Civil War Stuff it looks cool too: Im gonna be broke!:)

Yeah, I've got a comment Old Tanker,.
Are you sure these are 100% accurate and have an aiming hole?

Cheers

How does CS match up in scale to K&C? They say their product is 1/28 and I am concerned about them matching up. But I love the look of the 88.

Hi Old Tanker. Yeah I bought the whole range of CS Civil War figures-posted some pics on this board so look them up- Great figures with excellent animation and poses. The mounted and gun crew figures especially and I personally consider them much better than their opposites in Conte and Britain's, there has been some discussion on the forum re the skin color although that does not concern me too much however, the criticism has been noted by CS themselves and the new Zouave regiment (14th Brooklyn) when released in early 2008 will apparently have "rosier" complexions.
This manufacturer's future releases will definitely be worth watching!

I haven't bought the CS 88mm (yet), but based on comments and pics from other members it appears their 88mm fits well with the (correct) 1/30 scale K & C pieces.

Hi Subs, I'm pleased I put that caveat in my post as I ended up buying the CS 88 mm and it is actually 1/24 scale and a bit big with K & C gear, but a good model none the less.

I agree, the CS bren gun does look to big as indeed does their figure. Btw subs, why did you order a CS figure set if you already have some K & C Arnhem figures  - just kidding ;)

Tripods are always the first part to break which is why K & C figures carry several sand bags with them ;) If you bought the CS bren gun figure locally you should be able to get a refund. If from overseas it may be more cost effective to fix it yourself with some five minute two part epoxy.

It does not get better as the Collector showcase 222 armoured car is broken to
The complete gun as come away from the turret & there was a stanley knife blade left in the packing to
Three sets but only one cert :(
Not a good start the the bank holiday:(

AND the wheels on the 222 don't turn

AND how much did you pay for postage

AND handling

I'll wait for the revamped K & C version which will most likely have three good figures included ;)

To be fair about scale, I have some of the new K/C Arnham figures and they are smaller than the earlier K/C stuff, which begs the usual,'" maybe K/C is not 1/30 anymore".......Michael

Michael, could be, could be. I've noticed that a few members were disappointed with the new K & C Arnhem figures, but they look fine to me and even if smaller than CS, they are better ;)

Hi everybody, have just received the 88,i am pretty happy with the quality i cant really complain for the price i paid, and the crew aren't as bad ,as people have made out.I haven't compared them with other products regarding size issues, the main problem i have with the 88mm is the packaging ,foam underneath and a clear plastic shell on top and then held in with those plastic twist ties :(To be honest id rather have two layers of foam and do without the ties, these seem to have caused the base legs to have become detached ,their was a tie on each leg,so out with the superglue,i just hope it holds the weight of the gun:eek:Regarding the damage i will give collectors showcase the benefit of doubt seen it had international postage and all that it intails.
Any idea if the rest of the series is packaged this way?Sorry for the quality of the images, they were taken on a camera phone.
regards steve

Sorry to say the Arnhem range is packed the same :(
Out of four sets three have had broken parts :(
I had to super glue the ammo shell back on my Marder to :(

I Just received the 88mm gun today......(no figures).....my biggest complaint regarding this item is that the gun sits pointing "too low"( i.e. too horzontal )and cannot be adjusted to a proper firing angle without trying to prop it up......I feel this really detracts from the visual appearence of the 88mm....does anyone have any ideas on how this gun can be propped up?..I have built a 1:35 scale 88 tamiya gun painted in German Grey......I like mine better.......

I guess I got off lightly as the barrel of my 88 is level and nothing was broken out of the CS several sets I bought via eBay at the same time. The two issues I had were that the boxes were jammed tight into a packing box without packing material and got dented etc, together with the fact that the models are 1/24 scale. I have only kept the 88 mm and men plus the Panzer I, I sold off the other sets.

Tell me all about it, the shield we discovered was sooo delicate when it was adhered to the gun that if it wasn't just " nailed " down it broke during our drop tests. So yes the twisties are an absolute pain, but necessary to keep it immobile.

The led in the mix lends this very fine model weight everywhere so it just absolutely " fights " with itself when dropped. Also if the gun elevated that would have solved the problem with the gun direction. I find if you simply rotate the gun you can find a spot where it elevates up on its own, so perhaps a solution there.

We did 300 of the guns and I have about 15 left, so really its been quite popular. But I just haveto agree in regards to the tight packing and the elevation of the barrel. Some units are fine while other units have been a bit troublesome. Our next set of variants address all of the above and more:D

Thanks for the input guys!, keep it coming.

very best regards,

Brian
