K&C AK050 PanzerIII (1 Viewer)

Figarti tried larger production runs with their Tiger I late version and it seemed to effectively reduce the retail cost from $229 to $169 and they sold quite a few to rave reviews. I have one in my Figarti collection and they are well made models IMO. TCS also typically has 300 piece production runs and maintains the lowest WWII armor retail price in the business.

I think its great that you reinvest profits on future product development as is shown by your extensive lines and high output. Any chance King and Country will release any new Barbarians in the future to go with your new Romans? The old series was excellent. A lot of Celts are running around these days, it would be nice to see some Germans and Dacians too.

With respect 'Katana'...to your suggestion that ...'increase production lot size to reduce prices in order to offset steadily increasing prices' may work in your own chosen field of employment...However, in this very 'niche but nice' little hobby and business...It does not...And here's why...
Most of the companies involved, K&C included, produce items in the 'hundreds' not the 'thousands'...Cost of development...design, manufacturing, packaging and so on is relatively high...at least initially. If an item is exceptionally popular then 'additional runs of production' do certainly help reduce some of the initial costs and are most welcome.
Speaking personally, on behalf of K&C, that extra income goes straight back into the business to help pay for the design and development of the next and future K&C releases. That's just one very important reason why and how King & Country is able to launch and release the broad spectrum of all kinds of figures, fighting vehicles, accessories and occasionally aircraft on a regular monthly schedule throughout the year...every year.
Hope this explains a little of the background...Best wishes and happy collecting! Andy.

Thanks for your response Katana...In answer to your question about Barbarians...When JJD and yours truly discussed this subject some time back we came to a 'gentleman's agreement' that John would focus on Barbarians and K&C would concentrate on the Romans...That still stands as far as I know.
Hope that helps clarify the current situation. Andy.

Hi Terry,
Many thanks for posting the pix...personally,I think this Panzer III looks pretty good in Afrika Korps colours...Although I fully admit to being a bit biased!
Best wishes and have a great weekend! Andy.

And look at all the mud in the treads of the real black and white photo! {sm3}

That may be true about about Figarti but by all accounts they are barely afloat as a company and TCS vehicles weigh a ton and incur hefty postage costs accordingly, which often negate's their cheaper price range. Further more they are more prone to breakages as a result of their weight, especially if posting long distances.

I'm sorry Katana but your logic is floored on so many levels when you insist on comparing manufacturers in the way that you do.

Each company is very different from the next and each work to their own business model that works for them.

From my side of the fence your logic is spot on! If other companies 'modus operandi' was so successful then you would see many more releases from them surely..?
I don't pretend K&C are perfect... or that we have never, ever made an error however I will say that we get a lot more things right than wrong...And that's why we still have many loyal and happy collectors
around the globe than some of our regular detractors might care to admit.
Best wishes, Andy.

If that's the case, when can we see some ''fighting Romans'' to display with JJD's upcoming Celts?

Anyone notice with the K&C Model that its Missing some detail around the tracks? Like the suspension arms and a few other small details. Wonder why when this model was sculpted they decided to leave out these details? Even a cheaper plastic model like the 21st Century Toys Panzer III had these details. I am kinda Puzzled on this.

Many thanks for your response...Please indicate exactly where the missing suspension arms should be....and the other small details we missed. Constructive criticism like this is most welcome and helpful for future models. Thanks in advance and look forward to any pix and indications you can provide.
Best wishes and happy collecting! Andy.

The suspension arms are hidden behind the roadwheels.

The cutaway drawing shows them better.

If you want suspension arms on a Panzer III, I think most models including cheap 1/35 kits don't have them. You would have to go to First Legion for suspension arms.
