Hey, has anyone got a collection of the K&C Alamo figures and the Conte Alamo figures ?

I was just wondering if those guys could go together in the same diorama without looking weird ?

Ron,

KingsX mixed K&C and Conte Alamo in Gordan's Alamo diorama located in San Antonio. I saw it in person and I thought that the Conte and K&C Alamo figures matched pretty well in size and they mixed well together. The painting style is a little different though, but not overly so.

Here is one of Bill Sager's pictures:

Thats a fine Alamo dio....the gatehouse looks like the one from the 2004 film.
I like the size of the whole lay out..still gives the impression of a large compound.
(with out having to use a 10x10 table) :)

Our good buddy Hans Hedrich has a custom K&C Alamo Diorama (not quite as big as the original one in the Kings X shop, but bigger than the small Chapel Diorama that Gordon displayed in the K&C Room at the OTSN 3 years ago) and a full collection of the K&C Alamo figures. I'll try to get him to send me some photos to forward to Brad to post.

If you look on the K&C glossy thread you will see a wood and papier mache production Alamo facade and Jim Bowie's Bedroom that K&C made back in 1996, as well as a complete set of the Glossy K&C "Remember the Alamo" figures K&C made back then.

I too have seen the Diorama at the King X store in San Antonio. The figures do look well together but as previously mentioned the painting is different. K&C look a little sharper in the details, but the CONTE do look good. I have pictures but still have not mastered the transfering to this site yet. Sorry.

The diorama in Kings X is one of the best I have seen. I collect the Alamo range and have both the Conte and King and Country Sets. There is certainly a difference between the two, this might seem like sitting on the fence a little, but I think that K&C make the better defenders but I prefer the mexicans by Conte. I think Conte have got some excellent poses including firing upwards onto the walls and the Mexican climbing the ladder. What I also like was that their uniforms were not as clean and bright as those of K&C which I think is more accurate for soldiers who have marched several hundred miles through harsh conditions.
Having said that I think the defenders poses and particularly the variety of outfits are vastly superior in the K&C range.
So in my own diorama I have nearly all K&C defenders, using maybe only three or four Conte and I use Mexicans from both ranges.

Have I some Conte Mexicans in my display.

The defender in the middle is Conte.

Mike,
You have to remember that these museum pieces are done by professionals and takes years.I think our forum members including yourself do excellent dioramas and many members can do close to what the pros can.I bet Ken Osen,Alexdakar,Debrito, and others could do this kind of work if they had the time and resources.

No kidding. I will have to take a closer look next time... I wonder why they would put in Conte figures since they don't sell them and KingsX is wholly owned by K&C directly...

I did buy a Bowie's bedroom diorama piece off ebay which is pretty nice and I use in my display, but I immediatly ditched the Conte Jim Bowie in bed figure (that came with it) in favor of the K&C version, which to me was not even in the same league, the K&C version is much more lifelike and sharper with better paint in my opinion.
