Guys...

With K&C doing so much US airforce sets I would like to see some of these airmen produced and, some of the P51 mustangs done with the bright red tail fin.
A fitting tribute to their achievments. Anyone else interested in this being added to the range?

I could be mistaken but at one of the OTSN dinners a few years ago I believe this was brought up and Andy replied that he did not think it would sell. Some one correct me if I,m wrong.

IT last year, I believe. And A video clip of that conversation , was on Tony Nevilles web site.

It was last year and it got him a bit of flak from a few people who tried to make an issue of it. Corgi made a red tailed Mustang and a red tailed P-47 in 1:72 scale - I don't know how well they sold. I do know one of K&C's better and still in demand piece is the GMC 2-1/2 ton truck with a black driver typical of the Red Ball Express.

Andy did a Tuskeegee Airmen for Del Prado, and I have long advocated him doing some for the USAF series, but, as was pointed out, he did not believe it would be a financially viable seller.:(

Would love to know what would not make this a seller? IMO the aircraft in those distinctive colours looks ace and what they did IMO deserves replication in miniature.

I'm with you 100%, but Andy is convinced it wouldn't sell well enough to warrant doing it.

I hope Andy comes on and informs why this would not sell. Its an iconic fighter and alongside the spit probably, the two best allied fighters of the war With aircraft being released in low numbers its got to be more viable than not... surely?

The pics amazing.

I have to agree with Andy. I think the market would be to limited to be profitable.

I am in agreement here too, while it would appeal to some on this board, big commercial success I do not see in its future.

A P-38 Lightning "Maggie," in Major Dick Bong's colors will be a sure hit! A double hit if pilot is removable with opening canopy. About time the USMC PTO needs support. can iamagine a beach airstrip with palm trees and ocean on the background diorama. To add accent, maybe a nipa hut shelters used by HQ & Operations... combo with BAR tents

I was - and am - a die cast aircraft collector before I was a toy soldier collector and the Tuskegee Airmen aircraft released by Corgi (1/72 P-47), GMP (1/32 P-51) and Eagles International (1/48 P-51) remain some of the most sought after models. They sold out quickly and fetch a fair premium on the second hand market. I couldn't provide actual production numbers but I would definitely see them as a top seller along with any of the Bluenosers or Checkertails - for a start. :D

No interest in P-51's regardless of who flew them (except the early B's). Now a P-38 in Tommy McGuire's livery would get my dollars.:D -- Al

Terry etc,

Regarding
"It was last year and it got him a bit of flak from a few people who tried to make an issue of it I do know one of K&C's better and still in demand piece is the GMC 2-1/2 ton truck with a black driver typical of the Red Ball Express."

The subject was discussed in a Chicago Show/ Andy's talk thread last year. My memory of the thread was that the couple of people who thought K&C should do this subject and sought an explanation were not actually K&C collectors. It should be noted at that time no US aircraft or figure had been released by K&C.

The previous thread became "sensitive" and I recall having a post deleted. I think it is best to leave it as K&C has indicated he has no plans to do this subject.

All members of this forum would no doubt agree that the Tuskegee airmen are an extremely well known unit that gave excellent service during WWII.

The truck mentioned above is a Figarti item and as we know these are produced in far less quantities than K&C items.

Regards
Brett

I would love to see a Tuskegee P-51 along with one of the pilots from that famous unit. GMP made a 1/35 red tail Tuskeegee P-51 a few years ago and I picked one up. Great model. (Following are a few photos of it with a 1/32 FOV pilot alongside)

I just hope K&C does another P-51 of some type, or a P-47.

Ah Al, another McGuire fan; so am I mate. Interestingly enough my father was an Air Corps MP Sargent and knew him when he was in the Philippines. He even gave him a ride once. He said he was a great guy.

Thanks for the reply's Guys... I don't believe this is a sensitive subject as we are mature and discussing a real issue. If it seems sensitive for some they should go and read alice in wonderland and refrain from their sensitivities. The underlying concerns are always present from the purple rinse PC brigade but, this has got nothing to do with racism (my god !!!! the R word has been said close down the world for ten minutes.

I asked firstly, about the fact that I believe the pilots who risked their lives in WWII and, coloured their aircraft in an attractive fashion IMO should be replicated in 1/30 and, I still believe they should. A poster mentioned it would not be economically viable well, fair comment but, I see from sites all over the world that the first P51 release is still available and has not burned the shelves and that is only 500 so, what deems an economic success?? IMO an economic success for K&C hong kong must be if all the models in a run are sold to either collectors or dealers and, are not sitting on the shelves of Andy's factories. He then has his money and can move on to the next release.

I thought another P51 release may be on the cards and IMO can see no better unit to replicate than the TA to think it would only appeal to black collectors is plain daft as I said earlier, its an iconic aircraft and, looks great in the TA colours.

The P51 in the background of this pic is the one I'd like to see most, she's 'Big Beautiful Doll' at the IWM in London, wonderful looking plane. I'd love to see Andy make this one, although he did say its been made by several producers so maybe not.One can live in hope though!:)

Rob...

Nice shots but, can see why he would not want to do it as they are popular by other makers of aircraft which was why I suggested the TA.

Hi Bill. I am a big Mcguire fan as well as Bong, McDonald, etc. I am just fascinated by the PTO airwar in general. Oh heck, I just love all the airwar, both ETO and PTO, along with WW1! Have a special place for McGuire, the 475th, and the P-38. I have a few McGuire photos taken in WW2 on a Browning (shots of "Pudgy" and of McGuire with Lindbergh) by someone that I got at a military show many years ago. Also have Armour 1/48 "Pudgy V" and "Marge". Great models but I could really get behind a "Pudgy V" in 1/30.:D -- Al
