Hello All, I Thought I Read Somewhere That Louis Badolato Was Writing A Book On The Complete History Of K&c, Or Somebody Was......has That Ever Happened Or Maybe I'm Confused With A Different Article??? Sammy

Sammy,

The book has been fully written (by Hans Hedrich, Lawrence Lo and myself), and the photography done (by Kevin Elliott, Panda1gen on this forum), since January, 2008. It has been in the hands of the two sponsors since then, and they have been diligently trying to find an affordable format to produce the book. I last discussed the matter with one of the two sponsors last week, and was told that the method of publication we had hoped for would be prohibitively expensive, another, less expensive means of publication is being considered, and that it may be several more months before they are ready to go forward with some form of publication. I hope this answers some of your questions.

thanks louis, i will be looking forward to the book when it's available, keep us updated on the current status of it, and thanks for putting in alot of hard work on it i'm sure of....sammy

i am counting the minutes.....

I'll second that.... really would be a lovely resource for K&C collectors. I can see that one taking pride of place on the reference shelf!

Congrats on all the hard work, Louis, looking forward to seeing the finished product whenever it comes out!

Cheers,

Molloy.

is this the book that Andy at K&C is working on or something different?

Something different - Andy actually asked me to write a book cataloguing all of the products K&C produced from June, 1984 to the present. Andy is writing a book he intends to call "25 Years Hard Labor" about his experiences in founding and developing King & Country into an industry leader.

Louis, will this book have pictures of all the K&C releases and corresponding set numbers.
Meaning if I were to look up WS45, there would be WS45 and pictures of what this set consisted of.
Gary

What if members were to contribute to a publishing fund. Kind of a pool as it were. Maybe a prepay kind of deal?

That is the plan. Kevin has been taking fantastic photographs of each K&C set, in natural light on dioramas made exclusively of K&C buildings, backdrops and diorama materials. In addition, the book, as written, includes a description of each set as well as its release date, original retail price, and, where available, production numbers.

Well both sponsors regularly read this forum, so perhaps your idea can be developed by them. I was asked by the sponsors to keep their identities anonymous until they decided to reveal themselves, so that is all I can say as present.

I guess that publishing a book is like any other business and implies some risks.

Perish the thought of saying to anybody what to do but the sponsors must decide how many exemplaries they want to publish and how much they must sell each exemplary to get their money back or make a profit.

A poll on how much a collector is ready to pay to purchase a book about K&C may help the sponsors to take a decision (of course a firm engagement would be preferable).

For one, I am ready to pay up to 195,00$ for a book with a picture of all the items produced by K&C since 1984.

Pierre.

WOW PIERRE! Deep pockets eh?
I was hoping for under $150. however if the pic's a great.Which they no doubt will be. I think I could stretch it a bit.
O.C.

I would prefer a hardcover book but if not viable then maybe an electronic version in PDF on a DVD. It would make searching for a certain item easier just go to the search function and type WS099 and it will find the page(s) for you. Just a thought.

Hi O.C.-

I am ready to go... must worth the price. Hard cover, papier glacé and, as I said, photos.

Must say that I love books. More than toy soldiers :)

Pierre.

I'll take one when they are available. Wonder if autographed copies would be available????

Pierre & Oldcelt,

While I certainly appreciate the support, I was hoping to bring the book in at a lower price, so every collector could afford one. Unfortunately, we have not yet been able to discover an affordable format. I know the sponsors are trying their best to find a format which permits publication of sufficient copies at a reasonable price.

And in response to Amhuff1's request for an autographed copy, I would be honored, and am perfectly willing to autograph anyone's copy.

That si going to be one big book. Or are the pictures going to be the size that Capitol Ron was posting?:D:D

If you want to get a flavor for the photos, take a look at the old thread about the book. Kevin and I posted a few "reject" photos that he decided were not good enough for the book (still way better than any photos I have ever taken).

Louis, Is The Book Completed And Just Waiting For The Financial End To Be Taken Care Of?? Or Do You All Still Have Work To Do For A Final Draft??? Sammy
