Gentlemen,
I have just finished listening to my tape recorder and transcribing Andy's words. Firstly before I begin may I take this oportunity to thank our hosts in Brisbane, Brett and Gerelou Williams of The Military Workshop for the outstanding Dinner and turn out. This is the fourth one and they are getting bigger and bigger as the years roll on. It was great to meet all my old mates and a whole new bunch of collectors, many of whom are new Treefroggers. It was also great to catch up again with the "Big Dude", Chris McKenna and his better half Sarah (KGB) from the US via New Zealand. "Keep It Silly Dude"
Also a big thanks to my good mate Andy for taking the time to travel Downunder each year to keep us updated. Missed you Helen. One day we will be bigger than Chicago.^&grin
For those of you who have been to a K&C Dinner at shows around the world will know that Andy's Q&A sessions usually last about 30 minutes to an hour. Well this one went for over an hour and half. Aussies collector after a slow start pounded him with questions. I have taken out the usual general type questions and those that have been answered under my other thread "A Quick Fifteen Minutes with Andy"
Lighthorse: Lots of questions on this subject re weathering of LH figures and whats to come. Lots more to come including British arty.
Kokoda Trail: This was the hot topic of the night. Many questions. Andy explained that they had considered Ned Kelly, First Fleet, Gallipoli, Kokoda and the Lighthorse for an Aussie range. The decision to go with the Lighthorse was made because it was one of the greatest Cavalry Charges of modern times. Plus that era of Military history included the British and the New Zealanders. To release another Aussie range whilst K&C have the WW1 Lighthorse and the WW2 EA range was considered a bit too much. But never say never.^&grin^&grin
Naps: The questions on the future was raised and Andy replied that they had concentrated on the NE range but plans for French & British Cavalry were in place. However the Rifle Brigade could be revisited in 2013.
WW1 Arty: Generally consider too big with six horse limber and gun teams plus figures. Andy however mentioned he wished to do more WW1 Armoured Cars in 2013.
Greeks: More to come and also some Persians but not in any great quantity.
French Revolution: Uniforms and the period are great but with NE (1790 to 1801) and NA (1801 to 1815) ranges this like Kokoda may be one subject range too far.
Foreign Legion: Two ideas in mind. Great subject matter. Classic Beau Geste considered the best over the War in Indo-China and Algeria. Might just see the Beau Geste range yet.
Thats just about covers the main questions of the night that may interest collectors worldwide. Any of the guys that were there may wish to raise other points. Please hook in.:smile2: Dinner photos to follow.
Cheers Howard
