I store them on deep plastic storage shelf units from Home Depot or deep wooden slat storage shelf units from Ikea. They are sorted by series (AK, 8th Army, DDay etc.) It is important to keep the boxes to keep the figures in good shape when not on display (can't display them all at once). The boxes are also important for resale and shipping.

Hi Wayne. Keep the boxes. If you store or move your figures, the original boxes will protect them better than anything else. If you decide to sell or trade figures in the future, the boxes will add value and make them more attractive to the buyer (plus, again, protecting the figures if you must mail them somewhere). In the world of Toy collecting (soldiers or whatever), the original box is always a plus, and to some collectors, a must. Obviously, space can become a problem. If you must rid yourself of the boxes, try offering them to other collectors for cash, trade, or good will. Throwing the boxes away would be a waste. JMHO. Good luck! -- Al

99% of may boxes end up here. I just do not have the room to store them.

I keep mine in corrugated boxes and stored in the attic for future re-packaging. Be sure to line them up with plastic (garbage liner type to protect it from heat and moisture) to prevent the box gloss coating from wrinkling. The basement and the garage are also good areas for storage.

Yo Troopers, have to be honest here, anyone who throws away Toy Soldier boxes is, to put it in an American term (His elevator doesn't go all the way to the top floor) Got English versions but would probably get at least 20 infractions in one go:eek:. If any collector doesn't know the importance of keeping boxes etc Soldiers Dinky models so on etc. An empty Train set box sold for £3000.00 in auction last year, have seen some older Britains boxes go for Hundreds. OK so K&C are new but one day like us all they will be old, and the ones without boxes will fetch buttons, wise up guys. I have three old large suit cases under the bed full of boxes, don't like the attic idea, never know when you lose a slate and by the time you find out its to late:(. Also watch how long you keep them boxed in storage, some foam reacts against the paint, and makes a right mess in the boxes. I know this for a fact buying Chas Staddens off people who had left them in their boxes.
Bernard.

Keep them in very large boxes, about 10, at A/C'ed Public Storage facility. All figures are displayed.

Bernard, here's one you can use, and you won't get any demerits:

"chuckleheads"

And of course, there's "knuckleheads". Three Stooges fans will appreciate those.

Or

numbskull
lamebrain
bonehead
puddin'-head (also a pitcher for the 1950 Phillies-"Puddin' Head" Jones)
lunkhead
chowderhead (for our friends from New England)
cement-head
blockhead (Charlie Brown fans might remember those two)
meathead (for our Archie Bunker fans)
and for Bavarians (or Haindling fans), "Du Depp!"

Or some phrases:

Not the sharpest tool in the shed
Not the sharpest knife in the drawer
A few cards shy of a full deck
A few cents short of a dollar

Just tryin' to help Bernard out, I don't mean for anyone to feel personally addressed. It's a tough choice, to decide about storage (though personally, I save any boxes that my soldiers might come packed in).

Prost!
Brad

I rent four of these for my business at 169.95 per month. If I saved and stored every box from every set of figures I own I would need a 10 X 20 storage unit. Have you ever figured what it's costing you per year to store empty boxes ? Especially seeing what figures have been selling for with and without boxes (not that much of a difference) on ebay. Not sure how you can ever recoup this expense.

The Chinese don't want to pay to ship these back. Better than a shed!

.............................................................

I have to agree with Bernard, I keep all my boxes and that includes Lionel, Dinky, K&O, Model Motoring, King & Country.......and so forth.

It can be a bit of a problem, but a little organizing and it can be handled. I keep items not on display on pallet racking, and boxes for items on display on shelving in my workshop.

If you can find room for the items, you should be able to make room for their boxes, it will benefit you in the long run.:)

Yo Mike, get some GREEN paint off Jeff:D, paint it Camouflaged, you wont even see it in the back garden. Great if you have the room for it. The father-in-law used to keep his car in one lol, it was like a garage inside. They are a lot more secure than a shed.
Bernard.

I save all of mine, just in case I ever want to sell it helps in shipping.

Yes............they take up a ton of room, lol.

I seriously thought about getting one out back for a shed, then can clean out garage and put the car back in there, that would sort the box problem,no way im going to throw them out.

I keep all of my boxes, however I store them in the attic in plastic containers, not the best place to keep them due to the heat in summer and the cold in the winter, but this is the only space that I have to store them. It is amazing how much space boxes can take up.

I do not plan on selling any of my soldiers, however, my heirs will have the boxes, when they sell them.:(

Is it only me or are K&C boxes particularly large too? As for keeping boxes it is a must do if you ever intend to sell. Agree that this applies to a lot of collectables.

It seems they have several stock sizes and possibly a few specials made for a particular item. There is the small one figure box, the small square one or two figure box, the rectangular 3 or 4 figure box, and then several sizes of vehicle set boxes. I would guess that rather than go to the unnecessary expense of designing a box for each set, they use the best fit box they already have and err on the larger size to avoid breakage in a too small box that just barely holds the model. So the box may seem large for some of the models.

I wish they would put the name of the model on the box along with the model number. It would be easier to look for a box by name than to have to look up a number. I also wish they would use better glue to fix the label to the glossy box finish. I have one rectangular four figure box which has lost it's label and have no idea which set goes in it?

Terry

You must keep the boxes, I have all my K&C and Trophy must be over 400 in total, various sizes:eek:

They are kept in a very large, walk in cupboard under the stairs;)

Cheers

Martyn:)
