Thanks Kev, I look forward to the aircraft photos, I think Wayne also had an Arado, maybe a kit version.

I enjoy kayaking and fishing in the pond out front of my house, someone recently spotted a Bull Shark? but I suspect it was something else, hope so anyway

Please take care Matt, is this a salt water pond?

Kev, yes, nearly as salty as the sea, the 'pond' out front of my place is lake size, it was originally a branch of a river estuary, property developers converted it into a canal subdivision (mainly urban) with brick banks and a weir at each end. I have some pet Bream (fish) and Black swans that turn up for a free meal most days. Sadly the waves are usually a bit large for model planes, boats etc, the real motor boats only make the waves worse. A pleasant day here today for a change, have had heavy rain for several days.

Not sure where you are Matt, Queensland? I doubt bull sharks make as good 'pet fish' as bream .....

Kev,

I live on the Sunshine Coast, South East Queensland, about 90 km/1 hour drive North of the Qld capital, Brisbane. We have a sub-tropical climate here, but not warm enough for Crocodiles full time, on the very rare occassions one is spotted people get all panicy and park rangers etc trap the beast and ship it back North where it belongs. Further North Crocs are considered one of the locals and a tourist attraction, they usually run/swim away if approached, but some larger Crocs will attack and eat people, they are smarter than most people think.

Bull sharks are one of the few sharks that will actually hunt/eat humans, but as with Crocs they usually avoid humans and 90% of them in the canal systems and coastal rivers are babies around 1 meter, but large females do give birth to their live young in those same rivers, so be extra careful if you see a shark about 3 meters and above

Funny thing with my pet Bream, over the last few weeks they have been reluctant to swim too far from the river bank/revetment wall at my place, if I throw their food 'dog biscuits' further than say 2 meters out, they won't go for it, so maybe there is something 'bad' in the deeper water

Of course we have the usual Funnel web spiders, Brown snakes and Taipans that are among the most venomous snakes in the world, I saw a baby Brown snake near the canal a few months back, even the babies are deadly.

Another dangerous local that people should be more careful of are the pure bred Dingoes on Fraser/K'gari Island which is a large sand island about 45 minutes further up the coast from me.
Dingoes are about the size of a Coyote, smaller than a Wolf, but as Dingoes also often hunt in packs they can be a threat to smaller, more vulnerable humans, they recently killed a Canadian girl:

Recent investigations by coroner etc have confirmed that the dingo pack did attack the girl and forced her into the water where she drowned, they then started to consume her body, Dingoes often use this tactic to hunt and kill other prey on the island such as kangaroos etc.

In the UK the most dangerous wildlife may be human, mind you, some of our politicians may resemble a 'pack of dingos' in some respects. Take care Matt.
