K&C Poilus size (2 Viewers)

Remember the Blu-Ray-DVD war also.Soon you won't be able to buy any kind of disc as they are becoming obsolete.

My 2 cents,
Scale variance is a frustrating and very real thing to deal with indeed, but I have found over there years that all manufacturers suffer from scale discrepancies from top to bottom (although scale creep is more prevalent in some manufacturers than others). What makes it hard is that many of us don't have a toy soldier shop near home where we can actually see the figures before buying, or those locals shops are limited to what lines they carry. This is where going to shows can be very advantageous & informative.
My first experience w/ scale disappointment was with Conte's SOS figures sculpted by Robert Ortiz. I loved the figures but they didn't match up w/ the figures from Conte's earlier ranges sculpted by Ken Osen which I loved as well. Such incompatibility can be maddening at times, but it must be challenging to get all sculptor's to work within the same precise definition of 54mm or 60mm, whatever they may be. I'm not saying it can't be done but no one has really solved this...yet.
Waiting years for certain figures to be produced only to find they are incompatible w/ previous releases from the same manufacturer can be a big let down for sure. If more figures like this are returned, manufacturers are more likely to tighten up sculpting tolerances. Otherwise, the outcast figures can always be displayed separately from the rest in their own stand alone setting or positioned in such a way in a mixed setting as to essentially shrink their girth by giving the smaller figures the higher ground as has been discussed many times before.

Hi Joe,

I get what you say 100% but, also like you say, I find a way to mix them all in ^&grin^&grin

From Empire's perspective, I suppose with us being new, we have it relatively easy in that I only use one sculptor currently. However, should, and the emphasis here is on should, we ever need to have a 2nd sculptor, he will be given past figures to copy for scale and new pieces only signed off once verified they mix and match. It is not that difficult really??

Our plan for the next 3 to 5 years is to only grow to a level where we use one sculptor exclusively, one reason being to get around this very issue.

Maybe see you in Chicago?

Malcolm. :salute::

Hi Malcolm,

Thank you for your kind response, and I love what I'm hearing from you! :smile2: Ideally, this is how it should be. Thank you for your effort to make all of your figures compatible. I believe you would be the first to do so. Unfortunately, I won't be able to attend the Chicago show. I'm still recovering from expenditures from the Westcoaster.:eek:
Cheers to you!!!

Thanks for all the opinions, but I think only Marco got my point. These K&C poilus don't match with their own allies K&C British, FW044, as an example. The are pretty close to JJD poilus as Andy stated in his post but they are noticeably larger than that whole series of Brits he made in 2009.

If you all think I am quibbling, maybe I am. MAYBE MY EXPECTATIONS ARE TOO HIGH.

Somebody please tell me, do FL'S germans and French WW1 match up with each other? This is not a rhetorical question, I have never seen them in person. I think some of you have them, what is your opinion.

I posted a photo showing that FL Germans and French do match up.
