I think this stinks. Looks like I'll be buying less. They already ended the Collectors Club whats next? Ron {sm3}

has been a while since an ''official'' one. the monthly ones that happened last month and the month before must not count.

Thanks as I do not get this Treefrog newsletter

I have a bit of a 'live with it ... or not' attitude to price rises. They are advertised like any other product and if a potential purchaser cannot see the value, they take their money elsewhere. I have an MGB which I really like. I would really like any number of much dearer veteran or vintage cars, some of which I can easily afford, but I make a judgement about where to spend my money. Some may see that as apples and oranges but I think they are wrong, even if an apple turns up occasionally claiming to be an orange. It is still discretionary spending.

What I have never understood, however, is the parallel discussions about rising prices AND a collapsing secondary market. I could understand if both were high or both were low, but surely as collectors are forced out of the hobby they should be able to buy from the depressed secondary market if one exists? Or is no-one buying anything anywhere?

Price rises, surely, are not a manufacturer specific issue or one of them would be cleaning up with consistently lower prices. That said, I must admit that prices across the hobby generally have risen much faster than I anticipated, but a fair portion of that has come from a 25 percent drop in the Aussie dollar, but that is good for Australian industry, so as a patriot that is good news, but as a TS collector, it is not!

There are very few things that I buy on a consistent basis that have not gone up in price. I don't see why toy soldiers would be any different?

This is why I have basically given up on large scale figures.Just too much to collect a range.

I imagine any commercially available product that is made in China will have experienced similar price rises over the past 12-months as factory floor costs in China continue to increase.

K+C are very good with gifts, promotions and discounts compared to other companies as far as I can see.

Not true.

Since 2010, K&C figures have led the hobby in price increases.

Using WW2 figures for example, price increases per figure have been as follows:

K&C figures increased around 68% or $22 ($32 to $54 per figure)
First Legion increased around 34% or $17 ($49.95 to $66.95 per figure)
Thomas Gunn increased around 28% or $9 ($32 to $41 per figure)
Collectors Showcase increased 12% or $3.90 ($33 to $36.90 per figure)

Amen to that Jack!! great post and I whole heartily agree, as far as it goes for me I pick up a soldier/vehicle etc. here and there put a few trinkets on layaway if I want it bad enough and be happy with what I have, if for some reason I couldn't buy another set for the rest of the year so be it, I'd be more then happy enjoying what I have, the days of "gotta haves" the retired stuff etc. are days gone by for me, enjoying the hobby be it collecting or just reading/posting on the forums are enough for me...Sammy

Interesting figures. Thanks.

FL are made in Russia and labour costs have decreased so not sure they are comparable.

I haven't the foggiest where TG or CS are produced, but still very interesting figures.

Like other posters, I'm of the 'This is how much I spend' and I spend that on what I like the look of.

As mentioned previously, I think that freebies, discounts, incentives are readily available from K+C and it's certainly an area I've taken advantage of.

All these figures including those from FL are produced in China.

K and C did this a few years back from memory , a tougher market these days however and I can't imagine a buying frenzy .
Could be the proverbial own goal . I can understand production
Costs on new stuff increasing but raising the price on existing inventory is another story .

Does it say it is K+C or Treefrog?

I'm not aware of any price increase here on existing stock and I picked up a number of older and retired pieces from the PP shop yesterday.

The staff at K+C know my buying MO and they would usually give me a heads up on stuff like that.

I assume it's all K and C dealers as their prices used to be set from
King and Country themselves . ( hence the no discounting by dealers etc)
