I predicted this sooner but there is a Recovery Vehicle from Showman on Ebay for less than retail.

Big sets are slow burn type releases and if a company expects to clean up on them then they are usually mistaken. I don't think there was a rush on Trophy Boats or AZW Hospitals when they were first released. Similarly the Figarti E boat has probably not sold in the hundreds. I think companies need to produce the odd big set for credibility and to show that they can do it. They just need to cross subsidize slow sales with good sales from other sets.
These big sets usually only come into their own many years down the line when people begin to appreciate the skill and craft that went into making these pieces.
The Recovery Vehicle will be a classic down the line I am sure of it.

Certainly good points. I remember how long it took for the WS70SL to sell out. Then it lingered for quite a while in the $200-$300 range. Now it seems to be one of the "Classic Pieces" having brought over $600 several times!

You just never know!:)

Damian, Njja,

Good points usually. However, on this one, I would be curious to know how many are still in stock. I have heard that several dealers have more than they can handle in stock and have sold under 5 units on the whole.

I like the release, don't get me wrong, but i also look at it as $300 for a truck. Still a neat release, just not on my high list.

A relatively high production run together with a high RRP resulted in reduced demand for this attractive model when it appeared. However I can also see this model becoming a classic when dealers sell out, but that may take some time considering current economic conditions.

Tom I believe you are correct, it looks like quite a few dealers are loaded with this item. I have the piece and really like it but it does take up quite a bit of room and was expensive.

Since I am a "truck nut" I had to have this terrific wrecker.:D

Based upon the photo in the Treefrog shopping site for the damaged Sherman, the two would probably go well together.

That's true Brad, but you can use any vehicle in a diorama with the big Wrecker Truck, it doesn't have to have obvious damage such as a broken track.

Brad - Thanks for the plug - this is the SECOND one I have sold. Sold both for an associate. One at $220 one for $249. Yikes!
