Wow! I just saw a K&C T34 on ebay for $250.00. This was not a bid but a straight out purchase price (biddin not an option). Is that insanely high to anyone else or is it just me.

I must have been asleep.........I didn't even know it was retired. I saw the rocket truck go........but missed the T34........loved the bed frames!

Its a great tank but you need a discerning eye when it comes to these buy it now prices, I've seen stuff that wasn't even retired yet with crazy 'buy it now prices' and plenty of retired stuff that was still for sale at retail at dealers. I wouldn't be surprised (if you're after one of these ) if a couple of the more low profile and obscure dealers still have this one. There are quite a few oppertunistic sellers on ebay with inflated prices hoping to snare the K&C collector:)

I might be wrong, but I think that was the WS 98 T34 that Alex Prieto repainted and did a stunning job on..........

Missed out on that one, that was an auction on the 28th April . It now rests with the famous PatRouge, I had bidded him up to his limit as between my last bid and his bid , was less than the minimum amount necessary for a further bid , then got distracted by a work email in the last 10 minutes of bidding, misjudged my time, and when I turned to go at it again it had finisihed aaagghhh, He would probably have been waiting for me in the last 15 seconds anyway:rolleyes: Not much he dosen't get:eek:

There were a couple of threads last week that discussed auction prices on eBay for K&C pieces, often listed as retired or rare, and which can still be found for their retail prices.

I think most collectors probably know enough about their favorite manufacturer's lines to know when a price is unrealistic, and most of the people who bid on those auctions probably haven't been collecting that long and really don't know anything about the items. Note that I am generalizing, I'm sure there have been exceptions, but I think it's generally true.

On the other side of the auction, I think most of you guys know which sellers are dealers, who know what they are selling, and so, their prices are more in line with you'd expect. But for every dealer who knows what he has, there are lots who don't, so we see auctions where an item is flagged just as "old", usually followed by, "so it must be worth something". I see that all the time on homecasts made from German or Junior Caster molds. "I don't know what they're worth, but..." Every time I see that, I want to say to the dealer, "Buy O'Brien's book, chucklehead, and educate yourself about the things you're selling."

Prost!
