Agents working secretly at Mercedez Benz, formerly East Germany, previously Nazi Germany, were able to uncover the long hidden secret of the Kaiserwagen. They were able to smuggle out 3 photographs and a short note.

The note confirms the vehicles were built for the Kaiser Wilhelm II

The first photo was labeled "Kaiserliche Feldküche mit Begleitomnibus und Zelt, während des Kaisermanövers im Jahre 1912. (Kaiser Wilhelm 2)" which translates to "Imperial Kitchen box with an accompanying bus and tent, while the Emperor maneuvers in 1912. (Kaiser Wilhelm 2)"

The second photo is labeled "Die Inneneinrichtung des kaiserlichen Feldküchenwagens. (Kaiser Wilhelm 2)" which translates to The interior of the imperial field kitchen car. (Kaiser Wilhelm 2)

1993M2407.jpg

The 3rd photo is labeled "Ein Mercedes Küchenwagen im Einsatz. Bei Regenwetter wurden die Speisen unter aufgeschlagenen Zeltdächern ausgegeben. (Kaiser Wilhelm 2)" which translates to A Mercedes car in kitchen use. In rainy weather, the food was issued under whipped tent roofs. (Kaiser Wilhelm 2)

The transmission ended at that point.

I don't see any relation to these photos and the new K&C vehicle at all and I don't think they prove any thing either.

Super detective work, Terry . ( Of course if any of the pictures were photoshopped, then " I see nothing ".....:p Michael

Terry,

Was the agent who facilitated the leaking of these German secrets called Harry Palmer ? I can imagine the scene as he fled a hail of bullets and drove through the barrier at Check Point Charlie with the photos.

Regards
Brett

Trust me they were not photoshopped and I think they prove the existence of this kind of vehicle.

Would be a lot more beleivable if Mercedes had happily provided these photos from their archives rather than the "secret" agents stealthily smuggling these highly secret items from the high security, heavily guarded fastness of a factory formerly behind the Iron Curtain story. Whatever happened to the European Freedom of Information Act? Afraid this story has sent my crap detector into overdrive. Trooper

Re;Kaiserwagen - Myth, Fantasy, Reality,

:D Seriously, did someone contact Mercedes!

I think the majority of collectors will see this at the various shows and gatherings around the world and decide for themselves, coming to a conclusion after much soul searching, heart rending, hair pulling, and other forms of self flagellation and the startling conclusion will be....Yes I want to buy it....no I don't want to buy it.;)

Must say I didn't realise how big this is until I saw it next to the Kaisers Car, its quite a size isn't it?.

They came directly from Mercedes from their archives. If you want, you can verify them with Mercedes at Archives & Collection, Mercedes-Benz Cars. The photos are Archivnummer 1993M2406, 1993M2407 and 1993M2408

The names of the agents must remain confidential. Not even Wikileaks has that information.

Note the photos are from 1912 - before the war. The Kaiser used these cars when he was on the road. There is no evidence he used them during WWI. And it wasn't a sleeping car - it was 2 vehicles - an omnibus and a field kitchen.

But because you cannot find evidence does not mean they were not used in 1914, and is it not reasonable to suggest if they were used sometime in 1912 they may well have been used less than two years later?.

That's true. The search was to find out if a Kaiserwagen existed, and it did. The Kaiserwagens existed and were in the field in 1912. They may or may not have been used in the war - there is no evidence that they were not used. It is reasonable to suggest that they were used as the Kaiser did frequently visit the front during the war and I doubt that he walked there.

PhantomWarrior...

I think its as we discussed and I was told. Its based on a real vehicle and, has been adapted by K&C to make it more appealing or attractive. I said when it was released its a chunk and probably well worth buying for all WWI nuts

Does it really matter. The Great War or prewar it's a good looking piece. Use your imagination looks good with all the generals around it. Remember reality sucks!

Rough Rider...

To some it does to some it does not. I think some, just like myself, just wanted to know if it was real or not, no more no less. I don't think it was to have a go at K&C. I think with the signature of the company and being the only one I know of that does these releases where reality and creativity merge it was obvious people would ask. It still remains a good piece and seems quite a size.

I would make a diorama of the Kaiser watching a military exercise in 1912.
