Khartoum Sets Arrived Yet? (1 Viewer)

;);););)Knew you;d cave in and I'm sure Randy will more than likely join you:D:D:D

Well...I don't know about Randy...but while I was disappointed at first with his release of Khartoum...as opposed to his devoting his time and energy to the FIW he is producing and I'm collecting (I tend to be selfish)...it's really growing on me...especially those Dervish...the tips of their spears and especially their clothing grabs me...the first chance I would have to see one up close would be the San Antonio show...it's not til May.

I wish we had a Jenkin's dealer somewhere close to me.

If budget were no object I would be right there. I'm still hoping there will be more snowshoes sets since I love John's FIW and am already collecting some of St. Francis.

I bought the Osprey book on Khartoum. Have to admit I was disappointed as they devote only a few pages to Khartoum in what is a lengthy book by Osprey standards! And almost nothing on the siege/attack itself. The majority is taken up with surrounding battles. Also disappointed in their book on the Black Watch which contains one sentence on Bushy Run and about half a page on Ticonderoga! Fortunately, they have a much better one (at least for JJ collectors) on Highlanders in the French Indian War.

I received my Madhist with Flag this morning from Mark at TM Terrain, very nice figure. The flag is either resin or a similar plastic and hence no top heavy problems here. Just need to pick up the Egyptian Defenders set at the London show in March (hopefully) to complete this little diorama.

Very nice Jeff, can I ask if anyone knows why the flag is one sided??? Is it because of how it is intended to be displayed in the dio or are they like that in real life.

Scott,

According to the description on the TF shop.........

The standard inscription which was mainly on one side of the flag, was as follows: “O God, O Merciful One, O Compassionate One” “O Living One, O Subsisting One, O Lord of Majesty and Honour” “There is no god but God. Muhammad is the Apostle of God” “Muhammad al-Mahdi is the Successor of the Apostle of God".

The Osprey book on Khartoum confirms that these flags were blank on one side. A bit strange, but there you have it. I wonder how far John is going to go with this range? There were some Highlander prototypes - so maybe those are next.

I shall be asking this question and many more when I see John at the London show next month.
