King And Country UK Prices? (1 Viewer)

I'm sorry guys, I didn't eman to sound like I was trying to slag off King and Country UK, it's just that the prices jumped up so rapidly, and I had no idea it was happening, I guess since I am young, and don't know anything about business techniques, I may have jumped the gun, it's just that because I am youbng, it makes it hard to collect something, when it costs a lot, and when you've gotten so used to it costing something else:(

My sincerest apologies to Tony, Mike, Sue, Bob, and Andy, and the est of the team:)

Didn't mean any harm:)

Got to say the service from K&C UK is superb. They go the extra mile and then some for the customer,if you are a regular customer of theirs you will know for yourself just how much they try to help whenever possible. In six years of ordering i've never had a breakage or loss in anything i've ordered and delivery is the next day without fail.

As Louis said they are a great bunch of people friendly, helpful and apart from Tony, attractive!:D.

In the past i have ordered from abroard but always got stung bad by the good old UK Customs. Also there are three other places in the UK i could name where the K&C prices make your eyes water(one of them very very famous indeed).

In my view K&C provide a superior service and great value and i'm a happy collector because of it.(Although i missed out on a Mars Bar at the show:(;))

Sure the best service in the world..and when they do an error..look at my avatar..that was their error..:)a rare piece!!!The Nevilles are great indeed!!!

I would like to add my two cents......

I tried to be an HB dealer for a little while and could not make a go compared to the US, it is due to the taxes and overheads, they are savage but hidden - 22.5% import tax, 17.5% VAT if turnover hits the threshold. This on top of corporation tax, national insurance and the cost of shipping - I am sure I forgot things.

How many of you bought HB from abroad during that period, and then I was buying at 2:1 not 1.5:1.

btw you complained about 105gbp for a barkmann panther, note the huge prices for tanks and figures now - that is the other factor - price inflation.

I still buy from KCUK, only rarely from the US, when Mike doesn't have it - and the service is terrific.

The last few posts for the most part are really missing the point and Scott has nothing to apologize for. No one disputes that K & C UK is a great dealer and that they provide excellent customer service; that's not the point. The point is the economy in which they must participate. That is the problem and that is why collectors like Scott are posting threads like these.

Prior to the development of the internet age whether you could get an item cheaper wasn't a concern. Collectors generally weren't able to know if someone in the US had it cheaper so UK collectors were all in the same boat. If you wanted it, you had to go to K & C UK. However, that has now changed. Everyone has a computer, which has allowed me to consummate a transaction with someone in Australia. Similarly, we can now check the prices of every dealer in the entire world and by the application of exchange rates determine where we want to buy. The internet has hastened what for years have been calling the global economy. The internet has really made it a global economy. Moreover, in a recession economy, collectors, trying to maximize their return on their funds are going to look everywhere to get the product more cheaply.

That is, unfortunately (for them), the situation in which the Nevilles must currently operate.

Again, this has nothing to do with the Nevilles, just the horrid economy in which they operate.

Good post old bean.Inflation of prices is a big problem right now,and of course this is not K&C UK's fault, the inflation of my credit card balance is another matter though!;):D

Great post ;)

well said. It's all ecnomy.

For example. When the pound was going down against the Euro it was cheaper for me to buy in England than in Holland. Even now allthough the Euro lost some to the pound it is still a marginal difference. So I buy at K & C UK as I did before but the quantity has grown....
On the other hand I want to support my local supplier because he is worth it. But sometimes it is difficult because of the exchangerates and Whoopie, the Dutch goverment is still a number one in taxing. We now even have to pay handling charges so taht we can pay import tax. That alone adds about 8 pounds to every non EU parcel and than the Importtax and than VAT!!!!. It is horrible. So it's england that having trouble. So keep you chin up

I will keep on collecting and will buy localy at Modelplaza and with K&C UK their both great.

I don't always buy from the cheapest source. Being in Canada, my situation is different than if I lived in the US. But all of the several companies I deal with give good service and know who I am - not just as an order number. The relationship with a good dealer is very important to me. Most of my K&C comes from a dealer in Canada and as K&C is the bulk of my collection, them being the cheapest on taxes and with free delivery and standard K&C pricing and good service, how could I go anywhere else. My overall cost is roughly 15 - 20%% cheaper than dealing with a US dealer.

For Figarti and Honour Bound, I have one main supplier in the US and a second supplier. For build-a rama I usually use my Canadian dealer (same price but free shipping) or for hard to get items, I will buy direct from Build-a-rama. My JG Miniatures pieces come direct from JG. It is not only cheaper, but he will cut items to fit my display shelves.

I value my dealer relationships and they take good care of me.

The customer dealer relationship is so important in view.I have cultivated and built up superb relations with my main suppliers and its built on History, service, trust and friendships. In Tony and Mike for K&C and Clive for Figarti i am very lucky in having the best suppliers i could wish for.I hope to do the same with Thomas Gunn and the process has begun already.:)

Guys

to read a post after a nice long day in the sun and half a bottle of Jim beam is maybe not the best way to look on the forum!!

I appreciate that there is no need for scott to apologise for starting the thread. and i have sent him a PM regard this and another private conversation.

I do appreciate all the feedback and kind comments from all towards me and my family it is much appreciated. Trust me it takes Mike all day to work out the price point for the UK market. Its not easy.

Subject over really.............mind this is still based on the other half of Jim Beam.

and Rob i chose to ignore the lack of looks comment! as i know its not true! :D

I'm sure after half a bottle of Jim Beam, in your own mind, it's not true.

Now me and Rob, are in the semi finals for the UK Next Up and Coming Male Model 2009, presently being broadcast on ITV 16. I suspect it'll be a close run thing.

Anyway, got the second half a bottle of ginger beer to finish.....

That wasn't really the point of my post, the point being the difficult economic circumstances under which they operate, and the information readily available to collectors in making pricing decisions. In some cases this may be dictated by prices, others not.
