King & Country Boxes Dilemma!!!!! (1 Viewer)

I have every box that came with all my figures. I even have purchased empty boxes for all the reasons that Tom and others have mentioned.

Since this question has come up on the FORUM many times, maybe we should have a folder for "Frequently Asked Questions about collecting Toy Soldiers"?:rolleyes2:

Just a thought!

Boxes are like other peoples Mother- in- Laws, they are just part of the deal.

Always hanging around, taking up space, falling off a shelf and hitting you in the head, constantly reminding you that you have way too many soldiers.
Just store them in the attic ( I am talking about the boxes ).

I would love to meet the person who would re-box a thousand+ figures in their original boxes.............

Before Thor from Aeroart tipped me off about the rubbermaid bins with mattress padding cut into sheets to store figures, welcome to my world when I was attending shows...................I was normally the first idiot in at 5:00am and the last idiot out of the venue at 6:00pm.............thanks again Thor, what a time saver.................

I followed George’s advice and am so happy. If you look in my thread under Collections you will see the results.

I have my vehicles and figures stored in bulk in bins using the foam he recommended so I can have a large collection in a small space. Then boxes are in long-term storage in the attic. I posted most of what I used in that thread.

Glad it worked out for you.

At one point, I had 12 rubbermaid bins filled with loose figures, about 200 figures per bin...................it would take me an hour and a half or so to set up all the figures at a show, which might sound like a long time, but imagine taking all those figures in and out of boxes at every show.

I think the answer is pretty simple; whilst I always keep the boxes, should you have a large collection and not want to keep the boxes, why not offer them to your fellow forum collectors for free + postage. This solves a number of issues;

1. No longer are the boxes 'sold' for large amounts of money.
2. Andy has gone to extreme lengths to package his products, no need to throw the boxes in the bin in a 'willy-nilly' fashion.
3. Recycling is a major part of everyday society these days, if the boxes take up a large volume in your home, they also take up a some volume in a land fill.

In summary, before throwing away a box, offer them on this site to your fellow collectors, it only takes two minutes to post, and you may make someone very happy. Throwing the box in the bin serves no useful purpose.

Thanks, Scott

Who would buy a empty box??

No Dilemma for myself. All my boxes get stored in the closet. The boxes for figures, vehicles, diorama sets to me are an
important part of each individual item. Especially the quality of the new K&C boxes !

The last guy that threw them all away and now needs them!!

I don't get it, it's a box it's the contents I collect.
Maybe if boxes weren't so fancy they might be a bit cheaper the cost would have to be factored in.

I've often bought empty boxes usually for next to nothing as my collection consists of sets and also lots of loose figures I've managed to find on fleece bay.

Our boxes are not ‘so fancy’...They are, first of all, practical and I believe attractive and, for the vast majority of K&C collectors and dealers a part of the appeal of K&C products.

I suppose we could use plain cardboard and cheaper polystyrene foam BUT that’s not what most people want or value when they collect our items AND it’s not the kind of packaging I want to make or sell just to save a few bucks to please a very small minority of the market...But hey, what do I know..?

Best weekend wishes to one and all!
Andy.

At today's prices you should be doing more to keep prices down.
But hey what would I know I'm just a supporter of your product!!

If you’re a ‘supporter’ of our product...You’ve got a funny way of showing it!

Besides that you don’t know just how much we’ve done over the last few years to keep prices down and still offer a whole host of incentives and special offers to both collectors and dealers alike while also releasing new items every single month
regular as clockwork.

$1000s worth of your product posted many a dio using your product............yep I would call myself a supporter of your product but hey what would I know !!!!!!!!!

Just don't get how a box is important and if it is contributing to the high cost of yours and others well wouldn't an obvious choice be to go to plain boxes etc to keep prices down?
I understand the interior object (Which is what I collect not boxes) is important to keep safe but a pretty picture etc doesn't help.
How would I know how you run your business it's not my concern or business all I'm worried about is the rocketing cost of this hobby and if a box is a part of pricing something strong but plain and simple should be an object to keep prices down.

I like the boxes. I keep them. Keep up the good work Andy.

You still don’t get it...Or you simply refuse to understand a different point of view...

The cost of our packaging is the least expensive of all the many costs involved in producing K&C products...I and the vast majority of K&C Collectors and Dealers appear to agree that our quality product deserves and requires quality packaging. You have every right to disagree and that’s fair enough...However, I ain’t gonna change it or apologise for it either...

So, that being said, best wishes ..happy collecting...and ...have a great weekend!

Actually these boxes protect an investment if that's the term I'm looking for. The newer boxes are a great improvement from the older ones which have a tendency to come apart which was very frustrating. And now they have the picture of the inside content which is awesome for easy ID of what's inside. It's a additional protection for a great product. Plus these will be passed along to my kids. Packaging and figures go hand in hand.

Thankyou ‘Ranger’ for your support...and that of other collectors who have answered here and in private ...It’s much appreciated!
Thanks Guys!
Andy.
