KING & COUNTRY Dispatches -- April 2015 (Part One) (1 Viewer)

FINALLY a German Mortar team...... Not going to get one but two! This has been long overdue.
Also the Mark III has Stalingrad written all over it. Beautiful.

B. “Policing The Trenches”
Even in the midst of battle it was necessary to employ Military Policemen...Their duties were many and varied...From directing traffic to ensuring supplies of ammunition get to the front. The Military Police also collected enemy prisoners and any soldier attempting to escape or evade their duties in the front line. They enforced military discipline and also provided security for the “top brass”. They were not alas, universally popular...

FW198 “WW1 Military Policemen”
A pair of “Red Caps” (on account of their red service cap covers) directing traffic and on the lookout for deserters, malingerers and others trying to evade their duties.

Special Note:All rank and file Military Policemen were Non Commissioned Officers. The older Corporal is pointing, the younger Lance Corporal is watching.

AVAILABLE: Mid to Late April
Like the concept and these 'Red Caps' are very cool and a must have, some ANZAC 'Provo's' some time in the future would also be cool......:salute:: Looking forward to 'Part two' :wink2:
Wayne.

Mike,

I figured you would be happy with these releases. Looking forward to see how you use them in a display (hint, hint) :smile2:

Duke...

thought I read somewhere...and I might be mistaken...^&grin...

but it seems like I read somewhere that the Nazis used these in the very early part of WWII...

I may be wrong...

but maybe you can utilize a few of them in your collection...

just playing with you...^&grin

Hmmm no new Nap releases this time but some retirements. This can only mean that some new ones are coming down the pipeline. Hopefully soon! The other releases are quite nice...Crusaders for a siege diorama and a Wehrmacht band and soldiers for a parade in an occupied city.
Cheers,
Brendan

WO you may get your wish as the Panzer III N version also saw service in North Africa so hopefully a desert version will follow.

Hope to see one in WINTER version {sm4}

That would make a pretty nice variation as well.

Wouldn't it be neat to have a little interactive customization ability? Imagine being able to select the color/paint scheme, barrel size, some provisions/accessories for the rear, turret number, and figure pose.

It was like that for some of the Honour Bound models. I think the Gold versions were available for Tigers, Shermans and Sturmtigers. At that time a K&C tank cost roughly $125 and a mass produced high quality HB tank cost about $200. The Gold Edition models which were customized by order started at $450. Given the rise in prices since then, a gold edition tank today would likely cost $1000.

Like the Red Caps as well and will get them as well. Like Wayne, hope Part II has more WW I releases.

Perhaps some Lawrence or War in the Desert releases?

Regarding K&C Medieval Ballista release, I can't seem to find any information other than its use by the Greeks and Romans during a much earlier period. Seems that Onagers and Catapults were the smaller siege weapons of choice.
If anyone has more information sharing would be appreciated.

See Andy's new thread concerning this siege weapon. Robin.

There is some confusion about siege engines as the names were sometimes used interchangeably. In Roman times, the Ballista fired a bolt but the same machine could easily be converted to fire a stone. Stone throwers were usually called Catapults. The French made much use of Ballistae and catapults of different designs and sizes during the Crusades. The K&C model is a small Ballista configured to throw a 30 lb. rock as a sling or catapult. Use was anti-personnel against mass formations or wooden fortifications. Bigger versions could throw stones of 200+ lb. against stone walls.

Wayne.

Wayne mate, do you remember that conversation we had with Andy at the dinner last year about some Provo's dealing with some 'under the weather' ANZAC's or similar? Could be something in the pile line maybe?!

The Crusade figures & equipment were a nice surprise and the Panzer and accompanying non action crew sets are a welcome addition. Can't wait for part 2.
