KING & COUNTRY Dispatches -- August 2015 (1 Viewer)

Very nice and varied subjects here in the latest dispatches {bravo}}

As I don't collect anything WWII, I keep my comments on the releases for the earlier centuries.
As soon as the first word came out about the Three Musketeers and D'Artagnan, I was all in, and the actual release right now does not disappoint. A really wonderful set.
Only problem for me is, can I wait for the Chicago Show to pick them up or do I "need" them earlier ^&grin

Another most exciting release for me are the Napoleonic French Hussars.
There were many, many releases in the Napoleonic range for plenty of years, but this time it seems that the first possibility came up to create a larger camp scene, or "off duty" scene.
The already released figures, and the currently announced figures are great, and according to the added picture, there are a few more poses/sets in the pipeline.
These are currently the strongest "competition" to the Pike & Musket line, which is the one K&C line I'm collecting right now.

Now to the Medieval Times. The idea of a "Knights of the Round Table" set, when first talked about, seemed very good to me. Then I got second thoughts and said: Oh well, it's nice, but having 12 guys standing around a table all in the same pose, maybe it's not what I really want. Now seeing the set getting close to completion, it sure is an eye catcher for me.
So, when in Chicago, that set, hopefully completed by then, will be a subject of close examination :smile2:

Great job overall from the K&C team, including the various WWII releases :salute::

Cheers!

Konrad

I know that the Three Musketeers fit well into the Pike and Musket range but with Dickens and now these, I hope we see more literary figures. Robert Louis Stevenson characters woukd be excellent additions.

The three Medieval looking houses used as a backdrop for the Napoleonic French Hussars would be a fantastic release. They would cover the 14th Century through the Renaissance...ECW....Napoleonic era and beyond.
We have ancient dwellings and WWI and WWII buildings so these would fill an important gap.
I hope that Andy would consider producing these for general collectors, I'm sure they would be good sellers!

I'm looking forward to picking up some of these new 7th Hussars. Together they'll make a really neat Napoleonic cavalry camp diorama! Looking forward to more Naps being released later this year.
Cheers,
Brendan

Just collected the first release of hussars - magnificent. This choice of off-duty or fighting troops is trending across most manufacturers and presents many new opportunities for displaying and diorama 'story-telling'. Would like to see the Inn scene with several different regiments in attendance. Could we see a release of Cuirassiers carousing or Chasseurs-a-chasing...mais sans cheval? The Empress Dragoon Trumpeter seated at table would look great in 60mm - I have it somewhat larger (my Avatar). And what about those duellists (have a large scale duelling hussar also)? The Hussar uniform is consistent across Regiments but for the colours...potential here for A, B, and C variations like the Aussie WWI units perhaps? A dio set of two duellists with seconds perhaps...a loser on the deck with epee rising vertically from the corpse...This would work for the Musketeers also. Lend a little 'push' fellow collectors :salute::

F. “All For One...One For All!”
Alexander Dumas’ tale of a young man from Gascony, D’Artagnan, who journeys to Paris to join the King’s Musketeers of the Guard is a historical novel that incorporates many real figures and events of the period.
He soon meets three actual Musketeers, Athos, Porthos and Aramis and the four then, together, embark on a series of adventures that have been told and retold, time and time again in both films and television.
At K&C we are including these (and more famous figures from the book and movies) in our “Pike & Musket” series because the historical time period (1625) is relatively close to the era of “The Thirty Years” War (1618-1648) and, of course, “The English Civil War” (1642-1651). The uniforms, weapons and costumes of civilians and the military alike of that time changed very little and all of our figures and accessories are compatible...and realistically authentic.

PnM032 “The 3 Musketeers & D’Artagnan”
In this specially – designed set Athos, Aramis & Porthos, stand alongside the youthful D’Artagnan swords drawn and ready to fight the Cardinal’s Guards!
All three Musketeers wear the “classic” blue cassock adorned with a beautiful hand-woven cross and decoration. Typical of the period the rest of their attire is their own personal dress.
D’Artagnan wears a simple plain tunic befitting a young well-born gentleman from the provinces.

SPECIAL NOTE: Look out for additional characters from the Dumas novel in coming months.

AVAILABLE: Mid to Late August

I hope Andy will sell them singularly too...

Good luck with that ... I am still waiting for someone to make my avatar!

Are those WW1 Germans reissues or repaints?
Gary

Gary,

The Germans look like repaints (as the color schemes are slightly different). But, if anyone can advise or summarise which are the completely new sculpts for the recent FW series issues, it will be highly appreciated.

Thks,Chris

The SP065 “The Battle-Scarred Building” is simply brilliant and a "Must Have" for me. I have most all of the Wehrmacht figure releases from the
past 3 years and treasure them among my favorite figures.
Hoping a few Wehrmacht poses actually firing weapons will be in the near future. An early war Panzer II would be the icing on the cake for this series.....IMO

I have the originals and these new ones are reissues and or repaints. The grenade bloke now has a plain helmet and the gun set has one less crew member.
Below are the original sets.

KC say no to the pirates because they pretend that without a ship there can be no pirates{sm2} so....Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde or The war of the Roses?

Hi Guys, hi Poppo,

K&C did indeed say “NO” to our unreleased “Pirates” series because we could not make and transport a fully rigged, full hull pirate ship at a reasonable and cost effective way for us, the producer...the dealer who would sell it...but mostly for the collector who, we hoped, might buy it!

No “pretend” about it Poppo...just plain old common sense and good commercial reasons.

Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde...we’re already thinking about them as well as some other famous or, if you prefer, infamous Victorian “double acts”...As for the “War of the Roses”...I believe my good friend John Jenkins is already moving in that direction and so K&C will remain busy enough with “Robin Hood” as well as “King Arthur & His Knights of The Round Table”.

But, as ever, thank you for your thoughts...

Andy

Long time between meals Rob^&grin, no, nothing missed, other than 2 versions of Robin Hood in proto form, no release date yet, although my gut tells me soon. Would thought you would fall for the 3 Musketters? Andy has indicated that the Tales of Sherwood will include the Sheriff's men and other related figures, should be very colourful. Robin.

Hi mate , thanks a lot for update and good to hear from you. Musketeers look excellent but Robin Hood sounds even better.

Are the two firing figures delineated with arrows (one standing, one kneeling with MP 40 and a camo helmet) new?

Apologies if this is a duplicate question.
