Oh dear.....NAP Artillery !!
you do need to get your technical terminology correct Andy !!!!
you say :
NA340 "Gunners Set A" A gunner using the “pointing lever” to position the gun alongside another gunner with the lantern rod.
Those items are a HAND SPIKE and a LADLE ROD which was used to load in a measured amount of gunpowder, if a bag of powder wasn't used.
NA343 "Royal Artillery Corporal w/Fuse Rod"
Should be a Bombardier ( there are no corporals in Royal Artillery ) holding a Linstock
Take a Gunner to pick this, once a gunner, always a gunner
Love the figures though
John

Cannons are of course great. But i'd love to see an ammo chest or limber too!
Another thing would be a British foot artillery or horse artillery crew under attack and running for their lives. Gunners sprinting away. NCOs levelling spontoons towards enemy cavalry, Dead Sergeant major and gunners, mounted Officer in sword combat with a French Cuirassier!
Scott
OH NO !!!
Gunners don't run !!!!
They defend their guns, because the guns are the colours AND you don't abandon your colours to the enemy !!!!!!! {eek3}
Yes, NCO's fending off cavalry, and an officer with a sword, but let's see more grapeshot being fired in the enemy, that want gunners do to attacking infantry !!!!!!
John

Hi Obee,
Don't worry, leaving the guns was authorised by Wellington at Waterloo. He passed on orders that Gunners were to fire on the French cavalry until the last minute then run for the shelter of the nearest infantry square. When the cavalry had had enough, the Gunners were instructed to return to the guns and fire into the retreating French. Oddly, there is no evidence of any of the British guns having been spiked by the French when the guns came into their possession. Apparently this was because the French were loathe to dismount while in enemy territory.
Regards,
Johnboy.
I thought in the event of a cavalry attack they used to leave the guns and take refuge in the middle of a square? After the cavalry had left then they returned to their guns.
I'm really looking forward to adding the new RA and French artillery sets to my collection. Now bring on the 95th Rifles!
Cheers,
Brendan
But at Waterloo a great many Gunners did run away even after taking refuge in squares and after the cavalry had gone they just 'retired' from the field. Much was the same for the Union and Household Cavalry Brigades!
Would love to see a KGL foot artillery set.
