KING & COUNTRY Dispatches -- July 2017 (1 Viewer)

Very disappointed that there were no Romans as I thought this series had good momentum.
Romans are still hot but who knows for how long with new series always on the horizon and competitors jumping in.
Need some action poses to counter JJD's adversaries.

Not a bad start though, 13 releases so far and a fort in two colour schemes. Andy has stated he has 15 fighting poses in the pipeline for later this year. The competitors are well into this series anyway, so no point in K&C worrying about that aspect. Just a matter of being patient and continue to save money to counter the upcoming releases, especially if you are like me and need multiples. The JJD release schedule should mean both armies should come together about the same time. Now that will impact the bank account. Robin.

True enough! Patience is needed.....

I like these new WS figures the more that I look at them. I will get them for their visual appeal as opposed to their historical background.
As already mentioned the pricing is collector friendly for those buying multiples. Thank You Andy !

E. “And Now For Something Completely Different”...

PnM071 “Queen Henrietta Maria”
The consort of Charles I and a strong and forceful lady, originally from France.
She was a powerful influence on Charles and the mother of the future Charles II. She was also a Roman Catholic which did not make her particularly popular in, what was then, Protestant England.

[AVAILABLE: Mid-Late July

A very nice set of releases this month. But then again that is every month.

Although nothing in the 6 K&C series that I collect ... I do wonder if this lovely lady might be used as the wife of a 1776 British Officer, maybe a General?

Hi Larry,
Perhaps you could use Henrietta Maria as a General's wife in 1776...By my reckoning she would then be about 167 years old...and perfectly suitable for the kind of guy who goes for 'older women'!!!

But then it's your collection...do what works best for you...Best wishes and happy collecting! Andy.

{sm3} {sm3} OKAY ANDY, a point for you on that reply .... oh heck, TWO points as I am feeling in a generous mood. {sm4} {sm4}

However, there is a lot to be said for "Maturity and Experience" :rolleyes2: ..{eek3}

I have as much fashion sense as there are Penguins in the Sahara Desert but seems to me women's clothing was basically the same in that 110 year span.

OK, I'm happy with that. Of course I'll use her as a stand-in for queen Anne of France (like Charles I will be a stand-in for Louis) to go with my musketeers. Luckily I'm not a stickler for historical accuracy. :D

Hi there,
I think that utilising the new 'Henrietta Maria' as a substitute for Queen Anne of France to go with our Three Musketeers (and D'Artagnan of course) is a great idea...Go for it!
At the end of the day collectors have the absolute right to use whichever figures they choose in whatever combinations and historical periods they wish to represent. I do the same thing myself from time to time...
Have fun and enjoy yourself and your collections.

All the best and happy collecting! Andy.

Thanks! I do hope you will add some more proper characters to the 3 Musketeers setting in the future. Milday de Winter is a key character. Constance and Tréville would be nice as well.

If you should decide to add a Planchet (d'Artagnan's valet), I might be so bold as to recommend basing him off the 1953 French version as portrayed by Bourvil (the definitive version in my humble opinion). There is a lovely action scene in a tavern between the musketeers and the red guards, where he takes out several red guards armed with a large frying pan. It's very iconic and well worth a watch if you can find the movie. The last picture has him fainted after accidentally knocking out d'Artagnan in his enthusiasm. A figure with the frying pan would look great!

C. “DUNKIRK 1940”
From Russia it’s back to northern France in the dark days of May and June 1940...

FoB152 “Bren Gun Carrier”
This particular Universal Carrier also has a Vickers Machine Gun mounted on top to add some extra firepower. The vehicle includes a driver.

FoB153 “Highland Sergeant”
A sergeant of the Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders, map in hand does not look too worried... even if the military situation is going from bad to worse!

AVAILABLE: Early July

I can see Gordon's had some fun with this wee display base and really like the attention to detail and the ducks are a fine example. It's also great to see another Bren Carrier being produced. These little beasts were widely used by a number of Allied forces during WW2, including my own countryman in places like Italy where they were well suited to the wet and muddy terrain and back country roads. Of course not the most comfortable machine to hitch a lift in, but why walk when you can ride.^&grin

Congratulations! The HK Regiment is fantastic and I will get all the sets. As a small contribution to the 20th anniversary I post some photos of an article on Military Illustrated magazine ( issue July 1997). May be is an inspiration for some more figures.

Thanks for posting that 1997 issue of 'Military Illustrated'...Back in the day that was one of my favourite military magazines with lots of good articles, photos and some terrific illustrations. Sorely missed!

Best wishes, Andy.
