King&Country LAH Items.....A Sound Collecting Investment (4 Viewers)

It seems like roughly 20% -25% of the K&C items on ebay attract multiple bids and sell for good prices and sometimes very high prices. They are retired and sold out at dealers. Roughly 50% of the items attract one or two bids and sell for around their original price plus or minus 25% of the original price. These are generally retired and not sold out at dealers. The remaining 25% - 30% doesn't attract many bids or a good price. A few items can hardly been given away - they were just not popular.

It's hardly a booming speculative market but it seems like a healthy market as there are a high volume of trades. I

Well for me coming late to the hobby and not just talking about kc must of new stuff is selling below RRP , I've not sold one of my item for a profit and been only lucky to get my money back in the first place as I picked them up cheap in the USA , but that not a problem for me as I buy what I.like and not for investment reasons

Subs,I am definately not talking about LAH items still available. Items I refer to are The lamp post set, first sigrune drum horse set,Oath taking Ceremony....etc. These never go cheap. I plan on selling nothing in the meantime. This whole thread is about ACTUAL PAST EXPERIENCES of items I SOLD for some substantial prices.From there to today there are several good choices which down the road will yield positive results. I am not going to debate what items those may be.
Another upside to selling extra retired sets that do well is it can be a means to generate some extra funds to buy other new releases for ones collection. :wink2:

K&C have by far the largest resale market for WWII figure sets and AFVs. The market is much smaller for Figarti and CS and HB as they have produced fewer sets and their runs are smaller. But in my experience, the resale market for those manufacturers is proportionately the same as for the pattern of the resale market for K&C.

I had a great night sleep- real deep and only woke up once when the wind was howling outside my window. Anyway, it came back to me on my drive to work that I had a dream last night where I was in Stan's shop in Gettysburg and saw some LAH stuff and bought the retired items- I particulalry remember that stupid lamppost!! {sm4}{sm4}

Good grief- I'm dreaming of this stuff in my dreams now- time to get out and get a life!! {sm4}

Good thread PA.Chris how are you?If you are dreaming about toy soldiers it just means you need a few more.Mike B.:)

So I have a question for LAH collectors. With other WW2 ranges such as Normandy Battle of Britain , its easy to see what are the ' must haves ' etc, Spitfires,Tigers,Shermans etc. But what are the must haves for the LAH range that you haven't got yet? Are there personalities,vehicles or structures you'd like to see??

For me it’s not so much a question of variety but more about multiples. A marching order looks best with multiples of the same figure IMO. So the “must haves” are multiples of the same item.

I would like to see some more civillians in my setups.

Structures: If CS is continuing to release such nice buildings as the did already I’m a happy (but broke) man.

Rob...

For me, there are no must haves in the Berlin range I don't collect it in that mind set. I have bought many multiples of flags and presenting and marching figures but, only to enlarge the display. I would like more civillians but, I would like to see them non nazi saluting so, they could be used in other scenarios

Rob, There has been a lot already done. Staff cars, Buildings,Marching troops, Band members. At this point I personally would look forward to a 3 piece Reich Chancellory set. Another diorama set could be the ceremonial guard house which was a veterans memorial site.
Many parades were held in front of this building,which took its design from Roman architecture. Just a thought.....

I really like this 3 piece Reich Chancellory set idea. An undamaged version exactly like the dammaged one in the Fall of Berlin series (SP015 and SP016) could be made, and I belive it would be a good seller. Just to put a few interesting items, I would suggest a Sd.Kfz. 11 towing artillery with black uniformed LAH soldiers maning the vehicle and civilians carrying small flags, among other desirable items.

I think a 3 piece Chancellory set (1 center with 2 duplicate sides) would be a very popular release amongst collectors of WWII and in particular LAH collectors. This set would fill the void for those who missed out on the K&C LAH 041/LAH042 do buildings,or as myself own these,but looking for something new and different to add.Seems the more that you have....The more that you want. !

Rob, A resounding YES.....Berlin 38` Reich Chancellory w/sides. Mentioned this elsewhere, and maybe someting done along the lines of one of the many structures bearing the Roman design of architecture which many of Berlin`s structures had....with the frontal columns. Or......Something from Munich. ???
