kogu's "John Firth" collection (2 Viewers)

Here's one of the BMSS castings, which I am very proud of to have.
The kit, MC39, was called "Remnants of an Army", Dr. Brydon arrives at Jallalabad, 1842.
Cheers!

What a beautifully finished figure. Just superb. -- Al

I received this vignette in April of 2012

"The Remount",
Officer, trooper and farrier of the 11th Hussars in the 1880's
discussing possible issues with the officer's horse. Kit available
from Yeomanry Miniatures, sculpted by Alan Caton. John created
a scenic base for it and added an anvil and a fountain to enhance
the display.

Here are some pics of it.

Happy Collecting!

It was in December 2009 when I received this figure.
It's another BMSS (British Model Soldier Society) kit.
MC13 Sir Pertab Singh, Jodhpur Lancers 1911

You have some amazing creations Konrad; it doesn't do justice to John's work to call them toy soldiers.

Thank you, Brad :)
And yes, I agree with you that John's work is a bit more than "Toy Soldiers" :wink2:

Here we have a vignette or diorama that I received in September of 2012.
A scene from the Crimean War

"5 figures displayed on a custom made scenic base, depicting the
moment when Captain Lewis E. Nolan delivers the fateful note from
Lord Raglan to Lord Lucan to charge the Russian Guns, with that
initiating the "Charge of the Light Brigade. Figure kits obtained from
Alexanders Toy Soldiers, sculpted by Alan Caton."

One last post regarding this Crimean War Scene.
Close-ups of the 5 figures.
I especially like the facial expression of Lord Cardigan. Really looks like he just can't believe what he's hearing.

Happy Collecting!

One more for tonight.

It was in May 2011 when I received yet another BMSS (British Model Soldier Society) kit, painted by John Firth.
This time we have kit MC22 Kettledrummer, 13th Duke of Connaught's own Lancers, 1903

Cheers!

these are all stunning, but John's painting on that grey dappled horse is beyond compare! Wonderful!

Here's one, that I received in May of 2011, a Delhi Durbar Indian Trumpeter in State Dress.
This is the only one figure I have parted with, since I collect John Firth figures.
I had the great pleasure to visit a good collector friend, Mr. Pat Wade, a.k.a. as "wadepat" here in the forum.
When visiting him and getting to see his amazing collection, talking Toy Soldiers for a few days :smile2:, I could not help it but leave this figure with him.
On that visit I brought a number of my John Firth figures with me, because I wanted him to see them "eye to eye".

Pat, as most of you know, is an avid Delhi Durbar collector, and so this Trumpeter was left in very good hands :wink2:

Here are some pics.

Happy Collecting!

I received this little charming vignette in November 2011.
A trooper of the Hampshire Yeomanry is displayed here with a Lady and a little dog.
Have a feeling, that his chances are pretty slim, going by the look on the Lady's face :wink2: ^&grin
Happy Collecting!
