KooL Kansas Knights (3 Viewers)

Hi Pat

Once again you have dazzled us with some more exceptional pieces in your collection.

I think my favourite pieces would be Vlad Dracula and the Winged bugler. (Is the caparison on the bugler actually made of rope?)

Again thank your for posting these wonderful pictures and I am looking forward to seeing more.

Scott

Hi Scott,

Thanks for your warm comments. For me, it is most difficult to identify a true favorite as I love all my connoisseur figures. However, if I had to pick a single one that I would proclaim as my absolute favorite, it would be....

one that I have yet to post on the forum! :D Simply keep an eye on this thread and sooner or later this particular figure will make its appearance. I am saving this one for later. :p

Regarding the caparison on the Bugler figure, yes, it is actually made of a very fine rope. As a result, I must handle this figure with great care.

Again, thanks for your kind comments. I am very glad you have enjoyed seeing my knights. :)

Warmest personal regards,

Pat ;)

Hi Pat,

What a beautiful piece. I can't help but think that the face looks familiar. I saw a show awhile ago on Vlad and they had a number of works of art depicting him. This sculpt has definitely captured the flavor of those artworks.

Thanks for posting :)

Frank

Hi Frank,

You have a keen eye! The owners of the company that produced this figure (Medallion Miniatures) go to great lengths to research the figures they produce. I am familiar with the extent to which they go to ensure accuracy in their figures. They travel extensively in order to gather the maximum amount of knowledge and information possible about the subject they plan to produce. Therefore, in order to satisfy the owners, Vlad must indeed look like Vlad. Each individual figure that Medallion Miniatures produces is personally inspected by the owners, thus ensuring both consistency and accuracy in their products. And,...in my opinion, they produce a superior product.

Glenn Rabin and his wife, Judy Shipiro, own Medallion Miniatures. Glenn is a collector of connoisseur figures and, when they decided to develop their business, it became Glenn's and Judy's goal to produce figures that no other company had produced. An additional goal was to produce figures that were as historically accurate as possible. I think they have succeeded admirably in achieving their goals.

I think the fact that you recognized Vlad's face would please Glenn and Judy endlessly. Your reaction is evidence that they are fulfilling their goals.

Thanks for posting your thoughts. Your thoughts bring a smile to my face!

Warmest personal regards,

Pat :)

You have some truly beautiful figures there! Thank you for sharing them. It's always a pleasure to see the variety of collections and displays of forum members.:) Keep them coming, as your time allows of course:);).

Gentle Friends,

Once again, I find myself admiring my small collection of Kool Kansas Knights. The Knight to which I am drawn tonight is the Duke of Guise. In the pictures I present below, you will find him dressed for Louis XIV's Grand Carousel Parade.

The Grand Carousel was Louis XIV's great parade through the streets of Paris in 1662. It featured 5 companies, called quadrilles, of nobility that were ornately dressed as Romans, Persians, Turks, the Indies, and Savages of the Americas. The Duke of Guise, as seen below, is dressed as the King of the Americas. He rode in Quadrille 5, The Savages of the Americas.

The figure is one of a total of 100 produced by Medallion Miniatures.

Picture 1: A view of the Duke including the banner he carries.

Picture 2: A closer view of the Duke.

Picture 3: A view of the Duke's shield.

Picture 4: The Duke's Banner.

Picture 5: The reverse side of the Duke.

I think he is an outstanding figure and I am proud to include him in my collection of Kool Kansas Knights. I hope you enjoy him.

Warmest personal regards,

Pat ;)

Another truly impressive figure; you certainly continue to "dazzle" with these photos. The painting and sculpting detail are absolutely beautiful. Thanks for sharing this one.

That is truly amazing Pat, maybe the best one you've shown yet. Do you think you give us a close up of the shield if you have the time.

Great figure Pat, it seems to me there has been a real step up in detail in a lot of the russian top flight figures within the last year or two. If I were to identify it I'd say it's the extreme detail in the fabrics and textures of the clothing?

Gentle Friends,

It has been some time since I posted any pictures of my "Kool Kansas Knights," so I thought tonight might be a good time to share another one with you. The one I will show you tonight is one of my favorites. But, then again, they are all my favorites!

The figure you will see below is the Prince of Condi. He is dressed as the Marshall of the Indies Camp for Louis XIV's Grand Carousel Parade. In case you have forgotten, the Grand Carousel was Louis XIV's great parade through the streets of Paris in 1662. The parade featured 5 companies of nobility, called quadrilles, that were ornately dressed as Romans, Persians, Turks, the Indies, and Savages of the Americas.

The figure you are about to view was produced by Medallion Miniatures. The figure is limited to a total issue of 100 pieces. Like all my other Grand Carousel figures, my figure is number 15 of 100. I hope you enjoy viewing him!

Warmest personal regards,

Pat :)

Gentle Friends,

Now that OTSN has concluded and I have safely returned home, I thought I would share another of my Kool Kansas Knights with you. Once again, I have chosen a figure from Medallion Miniature's Grand Carousel Collection. You may recall that the Grand Carousel was organized by King Louis XIV in which nobility ornately dressed as Romans, Persians, Turks, Indians, and Savages of Americas.

Below you should find some pictures of Medallion Miniatures Set #FR2Q6, Monsieur Philippe, Duke of Orleans, King of the Prussians, Quadrille 2: The Prussians c. 1662. I hope you enjoy viewing the Duke.

Warmest personal regards,

Pat
