LAH Drum Horse Removed from Ebay (1 Viewer)

Funny you should mention this...:D:D:D. I can only say
CGA
and "watch this space" but I think you will soon be smiling instead of frowning.

PS Treefrog isn't immune...there went my Souvenir Hunters set auction--it just got the 'illegal item' axe from eBay sometime overnight.

Best regards,

Shannon,
Waiting Impatiently to do more business with you and your family!!!

I can't say I don't tend to be a PC minded person - I do tend that way, but I also don't believe in going overboard with it. That has made it so hard to even discuss real issues in our society and history. Honestly, what happened to you was overboard, and it stinks.

I've also had numerous items dropped by Ebay over the years and it used to be a regular topic of discussion in the 1/6th scale world. It's supposedly some 'activists' who search the Ebay site for a few key words and 'offensive pics' of items, then report them. I recall my 'offense' was that I used 'Waffen SS' in the description or title of a custom figure I was selling. I learned to use 'elite'.

I envision some pathetic little loner-loser, pouring over Ebay, other websites and their community, looking for something to snivel about...

Honestly,
this one takes the cake as I didn't even have a photo listed, I will post the ebay email desciption later for all to read, it is nuts.

To the person who caused me this issue, I can only wish them a life as they obviously have none.....and I also wish them a foot put so far up their posterior it would take a crane to remove it.:D

Some things burn me a bit, this is one, I know its truly a mundane thing to be bothered about, but I would be lying if I didnt say I wish the PCer great bodily harm.

Tom really sorry you had this problem. I have been able to block the emblems out with Hitler giving the Nazi salute and it sold go figure. Maybe Treefrog should have their own auction site. Lots of train shops have their own sites.:D:D:D

FROM EBAY:

Unfortunately, we had to remove your listing because the following information violates our policy:

This listing was removed because sellers listing WWII items are required to include pictures showing the item from all sides.

We notified members who placed bids on the item that the listing has been canceled.

Sellers aren't permitted to list items that promote violence, hatred, racial or religious intolerance, or items from organizations that promote these views.

We don't allow items or memorabilia associated with the Nazi Party.

You won't be able to list these items even if you crop or edit the listing photo so that an offensive symbol isn't visible.

So it goes. As a side, I am Jewish, so who's offended here??? Jeez.

Might be a good idea...but would it be open to the general public or only to forum members? I am not sure if how limited numbers would be able to support the best possible price for any given figure or vehicle..But, if we open it to the public, then we allow the PC gang access to our listings, that could cause grief to our members and host..Maybe inhouse only might work, as long as the seller going in ,knows the rules and willing to take his final price chances....Michael

I really find this hard to grasp, I can walk into a book store and buy books on the Nazi's etc...but yet I can't buy a metal soldier on EBay. What do they think I am going to do with it, take over the world !!! I think if there is a photo of the item and someone reports it, EBay should look at it and make their decision on an individual basis.

That's the next level. eBay has the visibility, and the easy access, inherent in the Internet. It takes more effort to harass a bricks-and-mortar store, but if those who believe that we have a right not to be offended, and that they must do something to protect that right, got it into their heads, it's not so far-fetched to imagine that they would hassle a book store owner into removing such books from his shelves.

This is a sign of our current times. We have become overly politically correct which has necessitated a nanny state. god forbid somebody be offended. Heck the British Army was pressured to send Prince Harry to "sensitivity training" for using inappropriate terms to wards his fellow soldiers late a night. We can just hope the pendulum eventually re centers and all the dogooders get focused on real problems...................

Well, to take IXEC's example (which I realize you are not specifically referring to) I believe a true toy soldier online auction site would allow WWII German figures to be bought and sold. As I mentioned in a rebuttal to a pulled auction notice from eBay several years ago it is difficult to do much with a battle diorama if you can only buy and sell one side. They kindly told me they were sorry but those were the eBay rules.

As the administrator of the forum my jurisdiction is within the forum and short of hiring a detective or lawyer to substantiate allegations of outside the forum impropriety I don't see this working. There is a code of ethics in this hobby and the hobby is a small place. If someone does something other collectors feel is 'not cricket' word gets around.

Yes Shannon, but some here would like to take legal actions outside of the forum in some cases.

And shouldn't there be some transparency on the Forum in regards to whom is posting with anonymity?

Paul,

I'm not sure what you mean with regards to the last statement. However, if you feel someone is harrassing you vis a vis ebay auctions, your proper forum for redress is probably ebay or probably the legal system.

Well Brad, let say some PC type on a Crusade wants to have access to the information they need to Hunt their prey.

What better way to do it than go to the Forums, you have most if not all of your hunting material there.

Our hobby needs good PR.

Open identity promotes that.

Tom -

AS you know I sell a ton of items on ebay. A few LAH sets here and there with photos. Sometimes they let them go , sometimes they get pulled off. I too think they many times a person ( not ebay ) patrols looking for these dreaded LAH items. They report them and we get bounced off. As a Power Seller with significant gross sales, I cannot afford the warings that ebay gives me. It is a strike against my seller dashboard, and effects my discount given to me as higher gross sales seller. The discount can be as much as 20% off my monthly fees. So a 5% reduction in the discount is a real hit.

It ticks me off that you can sell "African American" memorablia and not these LAH items. Both are offensive to me historically - but it let the buyer and the market place decide that. History is just that HISTORY.

Greg is right, this problem is costing some of us Big Money.

I wonder why it's tolerated that some forum members are doing this to fellow members?

I have infact traced a Forum member to pulled items on my eBay site.

I know I have no recourse here on the forum, as this is an eBay issue.

But if Members were not allowed to hide their identity here, this ebay problem could be resolved without involving this forum.

If anyone would like to know whom this person is PM me.

I have been selling on Ebay for going on 11 years now. I have had maybe a

1//2 dozen items pulled over the years. I know Gideon has also had items

pulled, as has Tom and others. I don't think its any kind of great plot designed

to hurt anyone.....just "Ebays rules"

I have sold and item, then had the same item rejected. I thought we were

beyond this when we began blocking out the offensive markings. I was

suprised when this latest note said that would no longer be acceptible.

I guess we have to hope Ebay comes to their senses, at some point in time.

As far as costing us money, I warned that the market was in trouble, its time

to just sit back and relax! I certainly hope most of the members don't need the

money.....because it looks like things are going to be slow for awhile!

This really has nothing to do with a forum member taking a certain alleged action a forum member. This has to do with an ebay member who happens to also be a forum member taking a certain alleged action against an ebay member who also incidentally happens to be a forum member.

This Forum can't get involved in disputes between two ebay members. That is a matter best left for ebay.

"Not cricket"
Who says that American English is taking over the Queen's English.
