Hate to play favorites, but the dismounted one is really my favorite. That's not to say that there's not lots of nice detail on the both of them, however. Oh, and I hope that asking Santa for some cavalry figures doesn't seem odd coming from a toy-pilot collector. You see, I've got a plan for these two.

Very nice figs, great additions to your collection. Chris

Thanks fellas,

I'm pretty disciplined in my approach to collecting, which is to say that I stick to aviation-related items. However, the trooper feeding his mount just sort of grabbed me. And if I'm gonna have one of something, I figured that two would make the presence of an odd piece in a scene more believable.

Thanks again,:D

Hi Al,

When I first saw the dismounted figure "feeding his horse," the word anachronism came to mind:

anachronism

[uh-nak-ruh-niz-uh m]

noun

1. something or someone that is not in its correct historical or chronological time, especially a thing or person that belongs to an earlier time: The sword is an anachronism in modern warfare.

2. an error in chronology in which a person, object, event, etc., is assigned a date or period other than the correct one: To assign Michelangelo to the 14th century is an anachronism.

LOL, at that point I realized that the sets would look great posed with some airplanes!

The sets work for me, because they are so completely out of place. Oh, and what manner of gentleman is it that doesn't love a fine horse (figure)!

Very nice dio, Moe. Great figures and I especially like the SE-5, which, unless I've lost my eye, looks to be one of the brass Dawn Patrol aircraft, specifically the aircraft of Capt. 'Taffy' Jones, 74 Squadron. :wink2: -- Al

Thanks Al, and you are correct sir! My other S.E.5 is on a stand at the moment, but the Samhongsa model will certainly do nicely in a pinch. It'd be terrific if we could milk a unit-discreet flight of the S.E.5a out of a manufacturer, sort of like **'s Jasta 11 group. One way or the other, I suspect that my new Britains' Lancers are permanent party to my RFC display.

Moe, I hold out hope that JJD some day will see fit to do Werner Voss' tripe, and with it, B Flight of 56 Squadron, or at least a representation with 3 or 4 of the pilots like McCudden, Muspratt, and Rhys-Davids. As WW1's most famous dogfight (after the Red Baron's demise, which is represented by his red tripe and Brown's Camel), it is worthy of recognition. Then maybe we can work on John to do several Lafayette Escadrille Nieuports.:wink2: -- Al
