These winter figures look fantastic. I haven't collected ACW in a long time but I can see myself getting these, especially to flesh out my 'Clear the Way' sets. :wink2: -- Al

Excellent pics Chris thanks for posting{bravo}}

Am I right in thinking that the statue of Richard Kirkland on the right in your third pic is on the spot where he carried out his heroic actions and therefore this was the direction the Union forces were attacking from on that day?

Cheers

Rob

Hi Rob
I didn't think to ask the park attendant conducting the tour that question. :redface2: The Union troops advanced to within 50 yds of the wall so it is possible the statue is positioned correctly. Chris

Hi Rob
I didn't think to ask the park attendant conducting the tour that question. :redface2: I don't remember how close to the wall the Union troops fell. Sgt Kirkland may have gone farther down and the placement of the statue may be a function of the limits of the park and wanting to place it visually near the wall for viewing. Sorry, just can't answer. Chris

Hi Chris,

No problem at all my friend I'm just very grateful you posted the pics, thanks again. Must get there one day, just love battlefield touring!

Best

Rob,
We need to get you and Bob over to this side of the pond for some battlefield touring, I'll volunteer now to be the driver, we'll hit Gettysburg, Antietam, Fredericksburg, Spotsylvannia, the wilderness, Chancellorsville and Bull Run..................and did I mention there are a lot of nice pubs in these spots as well to relax at after the touring is over?.......;)........

Sounds like a superb plan George!{bravo}} I'll get convincing the wife she needs a break from me, shouldn't be difficult!:wink2: Battlefield touring with pubs, does it get any better^&grin I can imagine you'd get fed up with me in the back of the car saying ' Stop the car George I just saw another memorial '...especially round Gettysburg!{eek3}^&grin:wink2:

Thank You Ken for the sneak preview. I really can not wait for the new catalog:wink2::wink2:

Looks like Britains has some nice looking ACW releases in store for us next year. Really like the cold weather attire on these troops. - The reb's have a Keith Rocco look about them. Good stuff.

I'm just starting into Britains ACW (with four other companies) so I am concentrating on the already released sets for a while but I must say it will be good to see some Winter ACW dio's, I bet Bob will have a field day with these!{bravo}}

A company called "Soldier Gallery" produced a series of ACW figures for the Fredericksburg campaign. Union wearing their light blue coats and Confederates in winter attire as well. They go very well with Britains so if you can find any you can add to this range. They were produced in 2002 but ceased production soon after.

Hi all,
Someone asked me the other day if the new Winter ACW figures would work with the ones I had sculpted way back in 1998. I pulled mine out of storage and pictures them with the new Irish Brigade flag. I think they work very well and the new figures can be used to flesh out your display if you have this old set.

The new flag on the Fredericksburg display I built for our special event.

Hopefully Richard and I will see a few of you this weekend at the Frederickburg battlefield.
All the best,

Took out Britains 1998 Frederickburg set and they will blend in quite well, but the new flagbearer has a two-sided flag with great looking battle streamers (a major improvement). Thanks

Richard and I just returned from the 150th event at Fredericksburg. What a great turnout by living historians and great support by the community and National Park Service.
I thought I would post a couple more images of the new figures on the diorama I built for the event to give you an idea of how these turned out.

Ken,

Thanks for the posts of the new pictures. The figures look great. I see some additional Federals that are not in the latest catalog. Will these be coming out later, or are they "one-offs" for the diorama?

Also, I can't tell from the pictures in the catalog -- are all the Federals in overcoats wearing boxwood sprigs in their forage caps? In other words, are the figures all supposed to be the Irish Brigade at Fredericksburg, or are they generic enough to work for other winter battles, such as Stones River?

Thanks again!

Hi there,
I forgot to point out that there are a few one of a kind figures mixed in the shots, along with some of the 1998 figures filling in the background. I only had a few of the figures on hand when I took the photos as the rest were on the way to Peosta for the event.
The only figure that has Boxwood sprigs is the Irish Brigade flag bearer so the other figures can be used as any Federal troops in cold weather attire.
Depending on the demand, there may be other poses added in the future. My own favorite would be an artillery crew in greatcoats...

Only speaking for myself, preorders have been great on these figures, so I hope to see more in the future and as far as crews in greatcoats; I like how you think.............;)..........
