Brad,

Holmes - Hansom Cab set c63 and Game is Afoot that you bid on. I think there were individual figures done too, have them both I believe unless I have my makers confused.

Tom/Brad

Not sure about single figures, never say never though;)

The catalogue description for C63 is as follows

“No Victorian street scene is complete without our beautiful horse drawn Hanson Cab. The detailed metal model of this vehicle comes complete with cabbie and two famous passengers. Their names? Elementary my dear collector!!”

And C121A

“The famous Baker Street sleuth ponders on what devilry Moriarty is planning now. Whilst Dr. Watson dutifully stands awaiting his instructions. Set includes an iron railing topped wall with the Baker Street sign”

Cheers

Tom/Martyn,

Thanks for the info. A friend might know who has The Game's Afoot. He told me he once had six of them but doesn't think he has any now.

If any reader of this forum has one they would like to part with, please contact me.

Damian,

Thanks very much for posting the pictures of the Trophy Crimean war figures.

Superb figures of the 17th Lancers, 11th Hussars and 4th Light Dragoons.....

I have not seen these on the forum thusfar, at least not the Trophy sets.

Just Great !!

Best, Raymond.

:)

I am not sure as it did not come in a Trophy box unfortunately.

There seems to be a crying need for a Trophy book (assuming one doesn't exist) similar to the K & C book.

This is the description, no picture though

ONE DARN GOOD IDEA, Brad! We've brought it up before, and we'll keep at it until it comes to fruition. Lot of work, though.

THE POST OFFICE RIFLES are a little known Regiment, here is some info I found out about them:

An armed battalion of Post Office volunteers was formed in 1867 to help defend various installations, including Post Offices that came under attack from Fenians (Irish Republicans).
Once this Fenian threat had passed, it was agreed with the War Office on 13 February 1868 that a regiment of 1,000 men be formed from Post Office employees, the 49th Middlesex Rifle Volunteers (Post Office Rifles).
The men of the 49th – later re-numbered as the 24th Middlesex (1880) – formed the backbone of the Army Post Office Corps in the Egyptian and Sudanese campaigns of 1882 and 1885.
In 1882, hostilities in Egypt threatened British control of the Suez Canal. The War Office drew upon the 24th Middlesex Rifle Volunteers to form the 100-strong Army Post Office Corps and they quickly saw military action at the Battle of Kassassin on 9th September 1882.
In 1885 The Post Office Rifles were again deployed this time it was as part of the British Expeditionary Force (BEF) dispatched to support General Gordon in Khartoum.

The Post Office Rifles went on to fight with great distinction in the BOER WAR and WW1.

The Post Office Rifles finds its successor today in the Royal Logistics Corps.

The figures shown here are from TROPHY EGYPT and THE SUDAN set’s DE6V and DE7V

Martyn,
Something about them looks ... familiar. What a nice bunch of prone firing figures. They look spendid, methinks a good shopping (hunting) trip to London!
