I believe it went to a fellow Forum member

trophy feb 2012 cannon 023.JPGHere is my latest Trophy find. Martyn, what is the set number and is it complete? Thank you for your assistance. Brian

I just bought my son Alec a nice Naval Gun being pulled by Oxen set. Photos upon receipt.:wink2:

I think I know the one you are talking about Louis ;)

Cheers

Martyn:)

Thanks Martyn and Al. My son has already declared my collection to be "our collection", so I have taken to building him a collection of his own (most of which is on display in his room, but some of which he likes displayed with the rest of "our collection"), which presently consists of Trophy, Hicks Atwell, Heco Tinplate Models, Bengurion Models, Pipeline, Toy Army Workshop, and Lezinski. I don't know if it is historically correct (I suspect this oxen gun team is Zulu War, and the Hicks Atwell armored train is Boer War) but he want's the oxen displayed with his armored train on the mantle in his room.:smile2:

I sent Brad three photos of the new Naval Oxen Gun Team, with a polite request that he post them on this thread.:smile2:

Hi Louis

That is a Boer War set, it will go very nicely with the armoured train:wink2:

Cheers

Martyn:)

Hi Louis,

I have never heard of Hicks Atwell let alone seen any of the sets made, so was wondering would you be able to share a photo with us...please! :)

Thanks.

Jeff

Hicks Atwell was a gentleman who lived in Boston (I am told he passed away in the late 1990's) who made trains, boats and diorama pieces that were built to go with Trophy figures. There are a number of photos of several gunboats, trains and a train station diorama on the "Trophy Armored Trains" thread on this subforum.

It's a lovely set. Being Alec has its advantages. Wonder if I change my name to Brad Badolato...hmmm ;)

If that were allowed, it wouldn't help you much, because I would have already changed my name to Louis (son of Mark) Hoffman to get dibs on his collection, plus that Mercedes gullwing . . . :wink2:

I thought you already changed your name to Darth

Congrats to you and Alec. I am sure both of you will enjoy the set for many years to come. Lucky boy that Alec :smile2:

I'm the lucky one Larry, to have a son who actually enjoys my hobby.:smile2: Although I must say for a six year old he has a pretty darn cool room, what with a Hicks Atwell Boer War Armored Train crewed by a Trophy crew, the new Trophy Oxen Naval Gun Team, several Heco Tinplate models, including an air ship and three planes hanging from his ceiling, and a WWI British Mark IV Tank on his mantle, next to an Imperial Heirloom set of action Cameron Highlanders and a Bengurion Landrover and several Royal Marine Commandos, not to mention a 1:32 Scale fully rigged wood pirate ship on his dresser, crewed by Conte pirates.^&cool^&cool Heck, he even has his own Indian Tee Pee to hang out in with his friends - I wish I had his room when I was a kid!^&grin
