I am posting this open invitation to the Lawrence Lo Memorial Toy Soldier Symposium, which will be held the weekend of March 4-5, 2017, to correspond with the Toy Soldier Show in New Jersey that Sunday.

Those of you who remember our late friend, Larry Lo, may recall he, along with Hans Hedrich, Mark Hoffman and myself, was one of the sponsors of the New York Toy Soldier Symposium, held annually on he same weekend as the show in New Jersey from 2006 until the spring before his diagnosis with terminal Cancer in September, 2014. Without Larry's smile, incredible food, and wonderful collection, the Symposium simply ceased. While there can never be another New York Toy Soldier Symposium, Mark Hoffman, Hans and myself want to hold a similar event in his memory and honor.

On Saturday, March 4th, there will be excellent New York Deli food, Pizza and desert served all day at my house, where Ken and Erika Osen of Britains and Hudson & Allen, as this year's manufacturer guests, will give a presentation, and there will be a viewing of my three room, 800 square foot collection. We will also be shuttling interested people to tour Rich Schuster's magnificent collection, as well as visit the American Armor Museum and American Airpower Museum, where real WWII Tanks, Armored and Softskin Vehicles and Aircraft are on display.

Sunday Morning, March 5th, we will all caravan to the Toy Soldier Show in New Jersey.

Sunday Afternoon, March 5th, Mark Hoffman will be serving the finest New York City Kosher Deli foor from Katz's Deli, and holding an open house at his incredible collection, with more than 10,000 figures on display from virtualy every manfacturer you can name.

Those interested in attending these events, please PM or e-mail me. For those coming from outside the tri-state area, I will provide information about two very nice local hotels. I look forward to seeing you in March!

For those interested in coming from beyond driving distance, there are 3 hotels close by to my home:

Roslyn Hotel, 1221 Old Northern Boulevard, Roslyn NY 11576 Phone- 800-261-2034

Glen Cove Mansion, 200 Dosoris Lane, Glen Cove, NY 11542 Phone-800-516-1090

Holiday Inn Express, 1053 Northern Boulevard, Roslyn, NY 11576 Phone 855-516-1090

The Roslyn Hotel is the most expensive and nicest, the Holiday Inn Express was redone recently, so may have fairly nice rooms, and is clearly the most reasonably priced.

Starting to get some nice early returns on the attendees:

In addition to Ken Osen, Erika Osen, and the sponsors (Mark Hoffman, Hans Hedrich and myself), Brad Lewin, Steven Chong and his lovely wife, Doug Luna and his lovely wife, and Tom Dubel have already RSVP'd that they are coming.:smile2:

Hey Louis

Jill and I would like to attend and take a look at all the new acquisitions since we were last there. I'd like to see the heco pieces you have been aggressively pursuing. Cant say I have ever seen them before.

I'll see if I can't dig up some Gaudy oversized Navy flight patches to wear in remembrance of our special friend ;)

Best regards
C

We will also be honoring former forum member Chuck Karen (Evilchuck), a 9-11 first responder who died of a rare cancer caused by his work at ground zero looking for survivors and remains. His and Larry Lo's good friend Morgan Hoffman will be attending.

Nah, who am I kidding.

Thanks Louis, looking forward to it.......................I'll be sharing my latest adventure with everyone; attended an estate auction over the weekend, a wide variety of items including toy soldiers.

More to follow.........................
