I realize the horse's feet are idle...but I think a British soldier (just sitting) on the carraige would look really nice...maybe two of them...

Looks great Michael !!! The only thing I don't get it the chain from the collars, I don't get why it is so long and why there is an extra ring in the centre.

This is what i mean for the chain on the collars, I think it should be changed like this for all of the horses but I would like to hear other members thoughts.

Scott...the collar chain will reach the hind quarter loop...but it's a "closed" hind quarter loop...nothing can attach onto it...

I think the reason the collar chain is so long...is that you can attach another team of horses in front of it...

Heck...I'm not even sure I have it hooked up right...:redface2:

Maybe this is better...I need JJ to send me a clear picture...I'm not sure this is right...

Michael hang the middle loop on the hook and let the shorter piece of chain hang down, that is how it is on Sierras site. It still looks wrong though and I am sure my way is the correct way but if it can't be done it can't be done.

I don't know how this has been modelled or put together but there should be a short length of chain running from the horses collar to the flank traces. As has been said the excess chain may be to join on a lead pair. The only other chain would be a "bride chain" that is fixed to the jowl piece on the head kit and runs back to the collar hook. Looking at the first picture, is it possible to connect the centre ring to the collar and then remove the extra chain?

Martin

I have a number of different mfg. gun teams, and I believe BF is correct. the shorter chain section with mid loop should hook to upper part. That would leave the longer length to hook to an additional team. If one does not intend t add another, then I would choose to remove that piece of excess chain..Michael

Only problem is that the additional horses have chains attached to them at the rear.

Assuming that the horses all have the same hook and chain rigging, will the long part of the front chain reach over ( through the reins )to the opposite upper horse hook with the short ring section reaching down to the lower hook? The chain from the other horse is then reversed to the side shown...Michael

ayne...I got that picture...but thanks for posting it...JJ said he would take a picture for me...the teams are tied together in the middle somehow...I can't figure it out...

I'll post the pic when I get it

I have been talking to John about how to set this up...

I think this is what he had in mind...

the rear and lead horses, that are side by side...

are connected with the middle linkage...

I think...hahahaha....

anyway...here's the model he built it after...

Makes sense as there is no trace for the second set of horses. I don't know if they even exsisted back then. Just the chain on the outside of the horses that concerns me. Perhaps John just made them like that for convenience, ie...one length of chain the same for every horse on both sides. I understand the reasoning for that if that is the case, however the chain from the collar to the harness should be short and taught so it takes up the slack.

Still is a darn good looking set though !!!!!!!!

Can you switch the position of the front horse team members? Nod nod, a saddle would be on the wrong side, but ....... thinking a 6-horse team.
