Here are some pre production photos of Asset's latest addition to the Little Modling range devoted to the countryfolk and their arts and crafts. Here we have the Tabony family, two brothers, Mathew and Jethro, living with their widowed mother, Martha. She supplements her small widow's pension by her skill at lace making, a talent for which she has gained some renown. Mathew has set up a small workshop and operates as a cobbler and cordwainer. Jethro, the youngest, has just finished an enlistment with the Royal Horse Guards, a unit regarded as the "family" regiment as at least one member of each generation has served in it's ranks. Naturally the family regard it as being the creme de la creme, but Daisy Potts, our heroine, loves to tease Jethro saying they can't be proper soldiers as they don't wear red coats. Here we see all three following their vocation. Martha making a lace collar for a wedding dress, Mathew repairing PC Randall's boots and Jethro putting the final touches to a new saddle for the squire.
Apologies for the poor quality of the pics, having some problems with the camera. Trooper

Great concept, Martin! I love to see more civilian subjects. I take it this is set in the late Victorian/early Edwardian period?

Prost!

Yes Brad, the whole concept of the Little Modling village is to show rural people pursuing rural crafts. Most civilian ranges depict townspeople, this range is to depict their country cousins in the period of the last Golden Age before the holocaust of WW1. A history of the village has been completed and the inhabitants are seen through the eyes of a little girl, Daisy Potts, and recorded from her diaries. The Tabony family is the fourth set in the series. Strangely each family seems to have descendents in the toy soldier game! Peculiar that. Trooper
PS don't know why you referred to Martin. don't think he has seen it yet.

I've just seen it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!^&grin:D That would be the "black sheep (skin)" branch of the family, they have thankfully all died out.^&grin:D

"Little Modling" is cute, but how about "Wainscoting" instead?

You can't change the name of a village that was mentioned in the Domesday Book. There is a mass of history there. Trooper

You missed the reference. C'mon, aren't there any Monty Python fans out there?

"Wainscoting....it sounds like a little village in Dorset, doesn't it?"

(cut to a street in Wainscoting, Eric Idle in housewife drag emerges from the first house)

"We're on the telly!"

Never managed to see Python, was always playing darts the night that was on. Trooper
